The top 5 spots in both conferences are just about sealed.

Positioning isn't even close though. For all the crap on ESPN saying the Lakers wont catch the Spurs, there is plenty of time and Duncan

Yeah, if the Lakers keep winning and the Spurs keep losing then they will catch them.

There is no doubt positioning is not complete...but will be close to impossible for the top 5 spots to not make the playoffs.

For the top five spots in each conference you can take the words 'close to' out of your sentence for 9 of the 10 teams. They have clinched the playoffs. ;)

Before the season started, I predicted the Knicks and Grizzlies would make the playoffs.

I would like to take my hat off to myself for those predictions.

Eastern Conference first round matchups are all set:

(1) Chicago vs. (8) Indiana
(2) Miami vs. (7) Philadelphia
(3) Boston vs.(6) New York
(4) Orlando vs. (5) Atlanta

One thing that sticks out to me: other than Philly-Miami all these series will have short travel times.

This weekend's game 1's:

Saturday:
Indiana at Chicago- 1:00pm ET (ESPN)
Philadelphia at Miami- 3:30pm ET (ABC)
Atlanta at Orlando- 7:00pm ET (ESPN)
Portland at Dallas- 9:30 pm ET (ESPN)

Sunday:
Memphis at San Antonio- 1:00pm ET (TNT)
New Orleans at LA Lakers- 3:30pm ET (ABC)
New York at Boston- 7:00pm ET (TNT)
Denver at Oklahoma City- 9:30pm ET (TNT)

Going out on a bit of a limb for my Finals pick:

Oklahoma City over Miami...............MVP: Kevin Durant

First round picks:

Bulls in a sweep over Pacers

Heat over Sixers in five

Knicks over Celtics in six (No offense, Bill, but the Celtics erratic play at times since March doesn't inspire confidence to me).

Hawks over Magic in six ( I don't trust some of the guys on Orlando. They can be hot and cold- if they go cold, duck and cover.

Spurs over Grizzlies in 6 (At least Memphis will finally win a playoff game)

Lakers over Hornets in a sweep (Of the bottom seeds out West, L.A. got by far the easiest one).

Mavs over Blazers in 6 (Dallas reminds me of last year's Celtics- solid team disrespected by many for the glamourous teams in their conference)

Thunder over Nuggets in 7

My NBA Finals pick: Dallas over Chicago. MVP: Dirk Novitzki

Saturday's Playoff Schedule

Indiana at Chicago- Game 1- 1:00pm ET (ESPN)

Philadelphia at Miami- Game1- 3:30pm ET (ABC)

Atlanta at Orlando- Game 1- 7:00pm ET (ESPN)

Portland at Dallas- Game 1- 9:30pm ET (ESPN)
