Miami knew they were playing Ark St at Ark St, and then us, by cancelling the game that means one loss instead of two on their record.
yeah, kinda pathetic that they canceled a game at Arkansas St. Especially when Arkansas St. offered to move the game up to Friday.

Miami Hurricanes cancel game in Arkansas due to Irma. Next stop: Tallahassee
Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir said, in a released statement, that he previously lived in Palm Beach County and that the Sun Belt Conference offered UM the alternative to move up the game, including the broadcast, to Friday night, but that Miami declined.

I wonder how that impacts the money Ark. State would have received from that game? In other words, does Miami have to pay them anything.

Looks like Miami is off the hook by claiming an act of God.

From the contract for the Miami-Arkansas State game, obtained by SB Nation:

This contract shall be void with respect to any of the games in the event that it becomes impossible to play such game(s) by reason of unforeseen catastrophe or disaster such as fire, flood, earthquake, war, [epidemic] confiscation, by order of government, military, or public authority of prohibitory or injunctive orders of any competent judicial or other government authority. Notice of such catastrophe or disaster shall be given as soon as possible. No such cancellation shall affect the parties/ obligations as to subsequent games covered by this contract. Any games not played as scheduled shall be rescheduled as such exigencies may dictate or permit.

What college football contracts say about canceling a game

Now the media is starting to jabber on about cancelling our 9/16 Miami game and moving it to 10/7. No official talks, just media being media. Well, being an opportunist, I took this time to book that weekend in Tally too, and since hotels were expecting an off weekend, the rates were real nice :)

Why is the game against UCONN @UCONN being cancelled? They are supposed to evacuate anyway.

South Florida/UConn and UCF/Memphis conference games in the AAC have both been postponed. None of the pairs have matching open dates, so rescheduling the games will be problematic.
Tonight's Memphis-UCF game in Orlando called off
In the wake of a flurry of canceled games involving Florida teams, the American Athletic Conference confirmed earlier this morning tonight's Memphis-UCF game in Orlando also has been called off.

The game is the second AAC contest to be called off due to Irma. USF announced Thursday evening it wouldn't be traveling to Connecticut for its Saturday morning contest against the Huskies.

Like the USF-UConn game, the Memphis-UCF contest is unlikely to be rescheduled because the teams don't share a common bye week.

Also, Florida and Florida State have both canceled their home openers. Neither game will be made up.

No. 22 Florida cancels home opener, South Florida-UConn postponed

The Seminoles were supposed to play Louisiana-Monroe, while the Gators faced Northern Colorado.

Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin says it "become obvious that playing a football game is not the right thing to do."

Neither game will be made up.

Also, South Florida and UConn called off their scheduled football game Saturday because of Irma. No makeup date was immediately announced.
