I recently bought an HR10-250. Since I already have a lifetime deal on my other tivo, a Sony I bought about six years ago, do I get a free ride on the 10-250? Does the 10-250 pick up SD local stations? Mine doesn't. It only deals with digital channels. As a result, I can't watch our local UHF Fox station which broadcasts in SD. Our other local stations are all digital.

SD is digital. Do you perhaps mean NTSC? If so, the HR10-250 will not tune them.

No one talked about SDTV until digital was "invented." Before that everything was NTSC. I was just trying to point out that there is a difference. Both are 480i, but NTSC is not digital. As always with anything the FCC comes up with, definitions are subjective, but I think it makes it clearer if we distinguish between digital 480i (SD) and analog 480i(NTSC).

The lifetime deal for your Tivo is "married" to the original equipment...it is not
transferable to added gear.
