abandoned dishes?

When a house with satellite service becomes vacant or someone switches satellite service,do the "old" satellite dishes still belong to the satellite company? I guess what I'm getting at, can I use these old dishes for spare parts?

they become the property of the homeowner to do with as he or she pleases.
