Arrow: Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity Smoak Won't Be Suiting Up Any Time Soon.....If everyone starts dressing up, you lose that connection to reality. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/01...elicity-smoak-wont-be-suiting-up-anytime-soon
We're just one week away from the return of Arrow and after an eventful mid-season finale, fans can look forward to the continuing transformation of several of the characters. Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance ) will make her debut as Black Canary, Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer is set to become The Atom, Colton Haynes' Roy Harper will fully become Arsenal and Thea...well we're not sure who/what Thea is yet, but she's definitely something. One character who won't be suiting up anytime soon, however, is Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity Smoak.IGN had the opportunity to speak with Arrow/The Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg along with a small group of reporters following a panel at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, where we asked if we might see Felicity - who's been a girl-Friday to one superhero and is looks to become one to a second (The Atom) - transform into an iconic DC character herself.
Could The Atom Get His Own Show?"It's like Dave Ramsey [who plays John Diggle on the show] said on the panel: if everyone starts dressing up, you lose that connection to reality," Kreisberg responded. "One of the things Dig and Felicity do so well in spite of the fact that they're incredibly talented -- obviously they're integral members of the team -- is that they don't have their own costume personas. I think that keeps them grounded, and it keeps Oliver grounded. It keeps the show grounded. Felicity, she's every bit of a hero as anyone else is. She's certainly thrown herself into danger at times, and they couldn't do what they do without her leading the team from her computer console. But I don't think right now there are any plans to "super" her up. I don't think that's really her role." [ quote]

Warning: Full spoilers through Arrow's mid-season finale follow...Arrow is set to return after an eventful mid-season finale, with Starling City down their vigilante savior Oliver Queen - for now. There to step into that void will be Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) who will be making her debut as Black Canary.IGN had the opportunity to sit down with Cassidy to talk about what we can expect from her take on the iconic character, as well as the tensions that will arise as she comes into contact with Malcolm Merlyn, Thea, Arsenal, and Team Arrow.

Arrow: Oliver Will Return Sooner Than We Think and May Have a Suprising Dynamic with Ra's Al Ghul Plus, does Ra's know Batman, how they created that fight, the Lazarus Pit & more! http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/01...may-have-a-suprising-dynamic-with-ras-al-ghul
Warning: Full spoilers through Arrow's mid-season finale, and some speculation on what's to come... We're going to be talking about the significant conclusion of the battle between Oliver Queen and Ra's Al Ghul, here. So if you haven't seen it yet and don't want to be spoiled, you may want to head out and return when you've had the opportunity to catch up.Still with us? Okay!Arrow left off with a big cliffhanger - almost, but not quite, a literal one. With Oliver soundly -- almost humiliatingly -- defeated by Ra's Al Ghul and chucked off a cliff like so much refuse, the question became: What's to become of The Emerald Archer?IGN had the opportunity to speak exclusively with Ra's himself, Matt Nable, at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, as well as follow-up with Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg with a small group of reporters about when we can expect to see Oliver again and how the relationship between Ra's and the Arrow may evolve (assuming that Oliver makes it through...which we do).

CW Plotting 'Arrow' Spinoff 'Atom' https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/cw-plotting-arrow-spinoff-atom-050001743.html
The CW could soon be adding a second spinoff from Arrow.During his time at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, CW president Mark Pedowitz said the network is already in discussions about expanding the Arrow and Flash universe. While he declined to provide any additional details on just what that would look like, Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti helped clarify when asked directly if the potential addition could be based on Arrow recurring player Brandon Routh's DC character Atom/aka Ray Palmer. In the DC Comics, The Atom can shrink down to a subatomic size, with Arrow marking one of the only times the character has appeared in a live-action series."We're in very early talks in a very general idea that we haven't gone deeper on yet," Berlanti told reporters, with Routh noting he would like to continue with the role.

'Arrow': Is Ray Palmer Starling City's New 'Savior'? Brandon Routh Reveals All! https://tv.yahoo.com/news/arrow-ray-palmer-starling-citys-161500993.html
Brandon Routh is making the case for Ray Palmer!Introduced at the start of Arrow’s third season, the charming, fast-talking and super-witty Palmer Technologies billionaire breathes a different energy into The CW comic-book show. Not weighed down by the vigilante lifestyle or a cursed family name, he has a perspective and approach on life far different from that of Oliver Queen (who will be M.I.A. for a while). And, he can hold his own against Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards)!Routh is well aware of the mark Ray is making on Arrow (there's even talk of a potential spin-off!), especially when it comes to the passionate “Olicity” fans – and he has to be. Routh has been a part of a major TV love triangle before (see: Chuck), but this one may take the cake.

Stephen Amell says Lazarus Pit will not be bringing Oliver back http://nerdreactor.com/2015/01/19/stephen-amell-lazarus-pit/#LijPSkGBQDkr9SoA.99
Anticipation is at its fever pitch with two of The CW’s top two shows, The Flash and Arrow, returning this week. Many fans are anxious to find out the aftermath of the mid-season finale that left many questioning the fate of Oliver Queen. It’s rumored that Oliver will be missing for the first couple of episodes. A majority of fans pointed to the likelihood that the infamous Lazarus Pit that has aided Ra’s al Ghul in the past would more than likely help bring Oliver back. According to an new interview with Stephen Amell, that doesn’t seem to be the case. “We just saw him fall. We’ve seen Oliver survive. So, [we don’t know] whether he went straight off the cliff, whether something broke his fall, whether he hit the ground. We have mystical herbs on the show that have healing powers. We’ve seen a Lazarus Pit, although that’s not something that’s going to be used for Oliver. I hope he survives. I like playing him.”No doubt that Amell is talking about the healing herbs that were used back on the island some episodes ago. It could be that the show is sticking to the comic’s known side effects of the pit as a reason not to have Oliver be revived by it. The Larazus Pit has a history of causing insanity in those brought back by it.So who will bring Oliver back from dead? Hopefully we’ll find out when Arrow returns this Wednesday!

Oliver Queen may be dead… but he’s not gone.On the winter premiere of The CW’s Arrow (airing Wednesday at 8/7c), the vigilante will still have a presence despite having suffered a fatal stabbing at the hand of Ra’s al Ghul, showrunner Marc Guggenheim tells TVLine.Oliver’s loved ones, however, will be feeling his absence, while Thea inches closer and closer to learning the truth about her brother. Meanwhile, Felicity finds herself in a déjà vu scenario with Ray and forming a bond (of sorts) with Laurel. Here are answers to some burning Qs about what’s to come, as we mourn Oliver Queen….

Arrow: How Does It Feel to Be "Left Behind"? https://tv.yahoo.com/news/arrow-does-feel-left-behind-130100618.html
Unaware of how the duel went down on that mountaintop in the fall finale, Team Arrow has been doing its best to protect Starling City while waiting for Oliver to return. After three days without him, however, Diggle, Felicity, and Roy have serious concerns about Oliver's fate— concerns that were only made worse when Malcolm showed up to confirm their worst fears. They may not need to worry too much, though, because there are two new heroes on the horizon! Ray has begun testing pieces of his A.T.O.M. suit, and Laurel has officially taken up Sara's mantle as the Canary. Surely these two folks can help Team Arrow—you know, that highly-trained ex-Special Forces officer, that brilliant hacker, and, um, Roy—take back Starling City from the criminal element, especially when that criminal element is Danny "Brick" Brickwell (Vinnie Jones).Anyway, while I finish my review of "Left Behind," you all should go ahead and start discussing the episode in the comments!

'Arrow' Bosses on Oliver Surprise: It "Changes the World Forever"....Stephen Amell, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim say the next few episodes allow "every character on the show to rise or fall." https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/arrow-bosses-oliver-surprise-changes-world-forever-020700295.html 'Arrow' Bosses on Oliver Surprise: It "Changes the World Forever" https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/arrow-bosses-oliver-surprise-changes-world-forever-020700295.html
[Warning: spoilers ahead for Wednesday's episode of Arrow, "Left Behind."]Arrow is back in a big way.Team Arrow learned the sad truth about Oliver's (Stephen Amell) demise at the hands of Ra's Al Ghul (Matt Nable). To add insult to injury, the bringer of the bad news was the man who orchestrated the whole thing, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman). Unbeknownst to them, Oliver is alive (if not well). That fateful meeting will have ramifications that will play out throughout the rest of the season, says executive Andrew Kreisberg.

New Arrow and The Flash Promo is Nearly a Justice League http://www.denofgeek.us/tv/dc-enter...nd-the-flash-promo-is-nearly-a-justice-league
Get your first look at Katie Cassidy as the Black Canary in action in this superhero heavy trailer for Arrow and The Flash.I've gone on at length about how we don't really need a Justice League movie, since the CW have been building a Justice League of their own for the last few years. I realize that's a tough sell, especially without Batman and Superman, but stick with me for a minute. When you think about all the characters that these shows have introduced in a relatively short span of time, it's almost mind-boggling. And now that they've fully embraced costumes and code names, well...it looks more like the DC Universe every week, doesn't it? And that's exactly what this new trailer for the second half of Arrow season three and The Flash season one is pushing. When you line up all these characters, costumes, code names, and all, it gets impressive. The capper is your first look at Katie Cassidy's Black Canary in action.

‘Arrow’ Without Oliver? Producers Preview the Rise of Black Canary, Atom and Brick https://tv.yahoo.com/news/arrow-without-oliver-producers-preview-rise-black-canary-194254012.html
What is “Arrow” without its titular hero? Viewers will find out on Jan. 21, as the vigilante’s friends and loved ones must come to terms with the fallout from Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) seemingly fatal showdown with Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable) in December’s midseason finale.Oh the subject of his character’s fate, Amell remained coy when Variety sat down with him last week: “He’s fallen — he fell. I certainly hope he’s not dead. I enjoy playing him,” he offered wryly. “Although there are the regularly scheduled flashbacks in 310 and 311. 312 is someone else’s flashbacks.”According to “Arrow” producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, the first three episodes of 2015 function as one extended story arc, featuring Vinnie Jones as DC Comics villain Danny “Brick” Brickwell, as Variety first reported. “Because it’s such a huge thing that happens in nine, we really needed three episodes to give it its due because those three episodes — 10, 11 and 12 — really are a trilogy dealing with the very real question of, ‘if there is no Arrow in Starling City, who is going to save the city?'” Guggenheim previewed.

Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) steps in to help Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and the police force fight Brick, showing Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) a new side of her boss. Malcom (John Barrowman) tells Thea (Willa Holland) that Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable) is after him and his family and they must leave town immediately. Oliver is Alive – So What’s Next For ‘Arrow’? https://tv.yahoo.com/news/oliver-alive-next-arrow-191122699.html
As some perceptive “Arrow” fans may have predicted, the hit CW show opted not to kill off its titular hero after a bloody battle with Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable), and last week’s midseason return saw Oliver (Stephen Amell) weakened but recovering, thanks to the intervention of League of Assassins member Maseo Yamashiro (Karl Yune) and his wife, Tatsu (Rila Fukushima). But while the audience knows that the resilient vigilante survived his encounter with The Demon’s Head, Team Arrow is still mourning his loss, leaving Diggle (David Ramsey), Roy (Colton Haynes) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) to try and fill the hero’s boots — some of them more successfully than others. As executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Variety ahead of the midseason premiere, “Because it’s such a huge thing that happens in nine, we really needed three episodes to give it its due because those three episodes — 10, 11 and 12 — really are a trilogy dealing with the very real question of, ‘if there is no Arrow in Starling City, who is going to save the city?’” As the three-episode arc illustrates, there are a lot of contenders vying to be Starling’s protector.

"When [the Arrow role] was proposed, I was hesitant to step into DC world again," he said. "I never thought it would happen and that I would play, in my mind, a pivotal character. 'Arrow': Oliver Returning for Show's "Biggest Fight" to Date https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/arrow-oliver-returning-shows-biggest-fight-date-050010386.html
Brick (Vinnie Jones) isn't done with Starling City just yet.The criminal mastermind has terrorized the world of Arrow for two episodes, puling such ambitious villain moves as taking over The Glades, kidnapping government officials and giving Laurel (Katie Cassidy) a beating (even though he doesn't "like to hit" women.)On Wednesday, Arrow will reveal Brick's very personal connection to Merlyn (John Barrowman); Oliver (Stephen Amell) will finally return to Starling City after being presumed dead; and team Arrow will face Brick's gang in a huge confrontation."It's one of the biggest fight scenes of the show to date," Jones tells The Hollywood Reporter.Wednesday's episode will be a conclusion to Brick's arc, with the show's executive producers describing the first three episodes of 2015 as a trilogy. But Jones believes he'll be back on the show at some point, and he would like to see Brick team up with other villains for an epic brawl."I'm sure at some stage, whether it's six months or six years down the line — that's the comic book Bible, isn't it?" he says of a possible return.Following Oliver's apparent death in December, Amell wrote on Facebook, "Our show is bigger than any one character," and along with the rest of the cast, Jones has had the heavy task of helping carry the show during Amell's absence from the Starling City scenes. Jones says when Oliver returns, it's a powerful moment. "He comes back and he's the big star of the show," Jones said. That added to the challenge of being able to attempt to intimidate Oliver during Wednesday's big brawl."As a guest-star you have to match that and your presence has to be as though you've been there for years," Jones says.

Maybe she didn't get to see the same flashbacks from tonight's Arrow that we did? Plus, Malcolm Merlyn's history leading up to his initiation into the League of Assassins is explored, and the team-up you never thought would happen causes a rift in Team Arrow. The episode opens with Oliver trying to sneak out of the cabin that Tatsu has been nursing him back to health in. He needs to get back to the city, but he's not healed yet. She lets him go with two parting tips for beating Ra's al Ghul. The first is that only the student has hope of beating the master, and only Maseo can teach him that. The second is that he'll have to sacrifice whatever's most precious to him to be strong enough.
