I have a Dell Dimension 4400 that I'm wanting to upgrade the hard drive. I am running Bios version A05. I want to put a 160gb hard drive in it and I'm wondering if i need to update my bios to A06 for that size of a hard drive.

From the dell support website: The following changes were made to the A05 BIOS to create A06: 1. Improved S.M.A.R.T. HDD error detection in POST. 2. Modified Rear Panel LED Codes to better identify memory errors.

If there is a bios upgrade available I always upgrade but the upgrade you are talking about doesn't seem to have anything to do with size.

You should be able to put up to a 250 gb drive in with no problems. I would still upgrade the bios before doing so.
