100% agree. The Reno DMA is vast and mostly rural with mountainous terrain. OTA reception is impossible for the majority in this market.

The only reason I came to Dish was because they beat D* to the punch in carrying Reno back in 2002.

Having been waiting very patiently for HD, I was really shocked to see Reno HD in the Ciel-2 uplink tables! The only hint of this prior was something about "coming soon", 2nd half of 2009 iirc. I would love to hear if anyone has more info on this. Until then, it's "see it when we see it", and I'm still not getting my hopes too high just because it's in the uplink tables for Ciel-2.

Same here for Indianapolis. I've been fooled too many times.

Just a quick reminder, though, for those waiting for HD locals like me. It has been brought up in this thread more than once that national HD are expected to be first.

After they're online, they're expected to make sure the spotbeams are OK for locals and do those gradually.

No idea what will really happen. Still, I'll take hope no matter how foolish it might be! :rolleyes:

They call it a Canadian satellite when they use this wide area beam instead of the US one.

Remember that Charlie explicitly said that new HD Local markets will only be added at 129 after the existing channels at 129 are moved from E*5.
Also note that in the past, channels have been uplinked - and then not made available due to negotiations with the channels.

wow you're out of the usa picture. you might need a 1.8m or not even get the signal at all. nelson said that the red line is 1.2m (approx) and you're WAY north of that.

i get good signal from eco*5 right now but when it wobbles it disappears,but other than that my signal is very good.is ciel 2 any different than echo* 5.thanks

Can't tell anything looking at E5 on the fringes. It's signal is like a lighthouse with it's wobble.
