Hi all. First post here. From what I've read so far, this is THE place to be for FTA!! OK, I have a Traxis 3500 and I have tried to aim the dish at G10 without any luck. The main problem is, I am pointed at something, but when I do a blind search, the TP freq, VPID etc don't match anything from lyngsat. The found list comes back "$no name" and on the preview screen it says "scrambled". I would think I hit a Dish or Direct bird, but again the TP freq, VPID numbers don't match anything. Any ideas?

Thanks

Ken

What size dish are you using ?

What Type of LNB are you using ?

Hold on, I got your PM.

EDIT - Your on Anik F3 at 118.8°W or EchoStar 9 at 121.0°W

Let me try to narrow it down.

EDIT - You are most likely at 118.8°W :)

Thanks. I won't be able to move it till this week-end, but it sounds like all of the hardware is working.

a Universal LNB will work for all linear satellites like G10.

The difference between a Universal and a standard LNB is the frequency range it can pick up. Here in the US the only satellites that need a Universal are a couple of the satellites over the Atlantic (PAS9 & PAS1R). But you can use a Universal for all the other satellites too

Frequency range of a Universal....10700-12750
Frequency range of a Standard....11700-12200

OK, thanks. I guess I'll need to go back and study the FAQs.

Still confused about what L.O. means and why a Universal LNB will work since:
Standard KU LNB's use an L.O. of 10750
Universal KU LNB's use an L.O. of 9750-10600

LO = Local Oscillator (Technical term)

In the US the frequency range used by linear FTA is 11700 - 12200, the standard LNB only covers that, the universal covers that in the upper band.

Universal LNB
Lower band: (10700 - 11700)
Upper band: (11700 - 12750)
