I think they terminated 'em again today, Brian, they're gone again for me lol. Not a big deal, I can always find something to watch with fta!

I have them playing fine here, ME TV HD seems a bit lower quality then normal but all are still there, Was watching Movies, Decades and H&I just moments ago.

Probably the number one channel we watch is MeTV. I like H&I and Decades, but I'd be more disappointed if I lose MeTV. However, over the last year of so, I dedicated a 3TB hard drive to recording all my westerns and other shows I watched on these channels. I just checked the unused space on this drive last, and there's a little over 300MB of space left. There another 3TB drive sitting right beside it waiting to take it's place.

I couldn't begin to tell you how many episodes of what is on it, but they are recorded in 3 hour blocks. Unless the drive crashes, I'll be watching my favorite shows for long time. I'll be curious to see how long these channels remain available to gather more goodies. ;)

I prefer grabbing shows on FTA, but I'm very fortunate to have (3) available MeTV affiliates here....but I miss it on FTA. Hadn't checked in a few weeks since moving recordings to the TABLO TV PVR for OTA.

We have three OTA channels here and all three stink. It's the same three channels we had as a kid and unless you like golf or basketball, you had nothing to watch. They never even showed a movie occasionally on the weekends. You're lucky to have the affiliates in your area. :)

What are the receivers that still pick these 3 channels up? I need the names of them. I'm going to purchase one of those recovers just so I can watch one of Decades' "Binges" in about 3 weeks.

EDIT: Does the Freesat V7 still work with these? I've tried to hold off buying that receiver because I've always stuck with name brand receivers, but I have no other choice. It may still work with these channels and plus it's cheap. I need something to record Decades with, so I have no other choice.

Also, this receiver is an X2. Would this one work?

I posted a review on the V7 and the V8 Super. Both receive those channels fine.

For the V7 review: http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/freesat-v7-review.362707/

For the V8 Super review: http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/v8-super-receiver.363252/

Personally, I would go with the V8 Super as that one does not have an audio problem on a couple of channels on 97W that the V7 has an audio problem with, Plus I like the fact the flash drive can be connected to the front on the V8 Super.

Downside is the V8 Super is like double the price of the V7, but that's not saying a whole lot since were starting at like $25.00. So your not being set back much.
The other downside is that there have been reports made those channels will be leaving FTA over there on SES-1 by years end.
There is your choice with the good ,the bad, and the ugly......:eeek

I heard about that, and what a shame it is, should it be true. Also, what about this X2 receiver? I posted the link in my last post. Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/271970904283

That X2 receiver (+ version) is supposed to be an upgrade. The previous version got those channels most of the time but many of us had serious overheat issues with it - to the point that I took mine apart to add an internal fan. I haven't seen any reviews for the + version yet so I don't know if there have been any improvements or not.

Don't know, did not purchase one of those.
I believe the review of it is here:
http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/x2-premium-mini-hd-review.348798/
Nope, that review is for different model entirely, specifically this one: http://www.x2sat.com/premium-mini.html
TheBUDGuy is talking about this one, http://www.x2sat.com/m1hd1.html, which is an entirely different animal. :D
As I mentioned above (post 408) this is supposed to be an improved version of the M1HD that many people, including myself, had overheat issues with. I modified it to add a fan (http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/posts/3923833/) and that solved the heat issues but reception of the problem channels for me was excellent some days and iffy others. As I said, to my knowledge, the + version has not been reviewed yet so can't recommend it.

Don't believe there are any reviews on Satellite Guys for the X2 Premium V. I know that with the issues I've had with X2 receivers, Premium II was great but Premium Mini and M1HD had issues, I won't be buying one to review.
Looks like I'm in a bad situation to be in. I don't see myself recording my programs in the next 3 weeks. Amazon no longer has any V7's on their website. V8's are expensive and every listing on eBay are overseas.

Yes, the FTA receiver market right now is not the greatest. The Chinese V8 Super appears to be the way to go as it gets all these channels but you face an uncertain, possibly long delivery time. I ordered mine on the September 10th. It was given to China Post on the 12th and as of the 20th tracking still says it is being prepared for shipment so unsure if it's even coming. :( If you have the extra bucks you could maybe give the new X2 M1HD+ or the X2 Premium V a shot as they are both available on Amazon for quick delivery.

X2 M1HD+
X2 Premium V

You might get lucky and find one works. If not, you shouldn't have any trouble returning them to Amazon and maybe you could post a review of them. Other than that, order a V8 Super and hope for quick delivery. :)

Not sure what you consider expensive but here's a V8 Super for $40.99. I ordered from these guys on Sept 12 and it's already at my local PO to be delivered tomorrow.

Yup that is what happens when your dealing with a receiver that is made in China and not brought over here by any of the known dealers.

You could buy it direct from Freesat and have it delivered in less than a week. But they all are coming from overseas!

And anyone who thinks $50.00 for a receiver is expensive needs to get a new hobby as most have been well over $100.00. But to each their own opinion.
While the V7 is very cheap the V8 Super blows it away with the differences. We have them both here and everyone wants to use the V8 over the V7.
The other receiver that still gets those channels is an Azbox and those were more than triple the cost of the Freesat V8 Super receiver but I doubt you can even get one now as they have been sold out for some time. There was one Azbox Ultra on ebay but it is from Greece and costs $220.00 + shipping.
or you could try out your Premium V HD DVB-S2 PVR FTA Satellite Receiver you posted the link on amazon and see if that works.
So you have plenty of options if you want to.
Good luck with your decision.

what is the major difference in these receivers?

40 dollars is 40 dollars however, to put it nicely, 40 dollars is chicken sh*t.
