It was a pleasure to try out the C61K. It really proves how good DIRECTV has gotten at this stuff; it really "just worked." I would like to have seen a better user interface, one that actually used those extra pixels, but I understand why they didn't do that.

Can you confirm if the H44 is available to current dvr users? I know that if you have a Genie you can't activate the H44, but what if I have an HR24?

If you don't have a Genie on your account, you can get the H44 and Solid Signal staff can help you activate it. Unfortunately DIRECTV won't let us sell the hard drives.

But what if you have an HR24? Can you still get the H44?

Surprised it is noticeably larger than the other clients. The picture with the C31 on top shows it, nearly double the size of the other clients.

Question is does the C61K offer a better picture quality than the orginal mini client. I actually notice a picture degradation when using the client compared to the HR44 receiver. I would like a client that gives just as good of a picture quality than the HR44 does.

A C31/41/51 should all have the same picture quality as any other HD or HDDVR receiver including Genies.

I can say that the version that I currently have had a lower picture quality than coming straight from the HR44. Just moved boxes around yesterday to get ready for my C61K.

Not the experience I've seen with the three C41W's I've got and had connected to a 73"DLP when compared to a HR44 on the same set.

I see no difference in PQ.
I was actually hoping for such.
The Solid Signal product page states that the C61 scales ALL D* channels to 2160p which is NOT the case.
I was hoping to test the scaler in the C61 vs my display.

Right on!. It would scale 1080p, but all 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i will display natively

I actually see a difference with the C61 compared to the C41 that I was using. Maybe it was just a bad C41 but the picture on the C61 is back on par with the HR44 being hooked up directly.

Now the only issue is that the C61 detects that I have a 4k TV but it won't display the channel that the content is supposed to be on. Really not a big deal yet as its pretty much PPV from what I have heard but it would be nice to watch one to see the PQ that this box will display.
