Dish/Capital Broadcasting Dispute (Resolved)

Call the number you were given. I did and received a better offer. That number is for account specialists.
Always worth a shot, but it sounds like he has 18 months left on a contract. So he is already getting a bit of a discount.

If you don't ask you don't get. The first line agents claim they can only give $5. You have to call to see if there is a better deal

WRAL is the best Raleigh (maybe even NC) local around

I used to agree, but I have found their news reporting has suffered in recent years and whoever is in charge of producing their newscasts has no concept of flow -- they just go from one story to the next with no consideration for how the stories fit together. Also, their weather forecasting has been terrible of late. I've been happier with WTVD since I decided to try them out for local news/weather.

The perpetual cycle of price disputes continue...................

You do have choices in the marketplace. If you want to pay substantially more then move to another provider. Make your choice, but if you remain, don't complain. You knew what Dish was all about when you signed up. You chose Dish because it was less money and has better equipment. Be honest.

I install dish and I have dish at home that I pay for, not get for free. I understand and sympathize with what you're all saying, 75% of what I watch is on WRAL and WRAZ, but I'd rather loose it for a bit and find something else to watch then have DISH just bow at capitol's feet and say ok we'll just charge our customers more. If they did that then everybody in here including me would be blasting them for raising our bill. Can't have it both ways, unless you're with Direct TV... They raise your bill and removed The Weather Channel.

It is my God given right to complain about ANYTHING and I will do so ,as long as I continue to pay the bill. I have been paying the DISH the bill for 18 years next month and I have three DISH accounts. Please shake your DISH POM POMS in somebody else's face.

With everything in reruns for awhile longer there has been no great push from either party to settle so far. Will be interesting to see what happens when first run programming returns.

For me it really hasn't been that big a deal. Because of terrible rain fade with DISH, I picked up the USB OTA dongle when we came back. I make a quick trip to the Internet once a week to see what's on CBS and then set up manual recordings for the 5.1 channel. While not a perfect scenario it's a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things.

I see so many people complaining about Dish rain-fade, but I rarely experienced any. I can't believe so many people need their dishes re-peaked. I wonder if there is something wrong with the LNBs Dish is using.

So they are saying a few cents a day more is all they want. So if they 5 cents a day per channel that is $1.50 more a month just for one local channel. Is that worth it when you are supposed to be able to get your locals off air for free?
Has everyone EVER been able to get locals for free? Haven't there ALWAYS been people who can't receive OTA?

Yes, I know some people who could get reception in analog can't get digital, but A) the digital transition was forced on broadcasters, they didn't do it by choice, and B) there are now people who can receive digital that couldn't get analog.

It takes a very heavy rain storm for me to have rain fade.
I wonder if it has something to do with what arc they're on. I'm on WA and while we do have rain fade, it's not often, and the longest it has lasted is ~15-20 minutes (most of the time <5 minutes).

That sounds similar to what my experience has been on both arcs. I found rain fade to be extremely rare, and when it did happen, it did not last long. Many people complain about the EA, which it why I was wondering if it was something specific to the hardware on the EA dishes.

You've been paying the DISH bill for 18 years huh...well then that means you are out of contract them right? Then you have options, you could in fact go somewhere else for your tv service then. Something to think about then...maybe, but in all seriousness MikeD-C05 DISH did this because of you, just to piss you off.
