After missing the 2022 Nielsen DMA rankings, we now have the 2023 Season rankings (thanks to Doctor J!) and have incorporated them into our Market Resources. Pay attention to the change in ranking from 2021 to 2023; a whole range of demographic changes are having huge impacts.
The 2021 data showed a 13% uptick in the number of "TV Homes" nationwide even though total "TV Homes" has been steadily declining for years. However, that 2021 increase was a reflection that for the first time, Nielsen included "BBO Homes" (BroadBand Only) as a part of the count.
The “In Service Date” shown for each DMA is the date HD Locals started. I have not been able to discover reliable records for the true beginning of LIL service, which began in 2002 providing SD only.
