DNow poised to surpass Sling

Sling might actually be dropping locals. When I've looked into their service in the past, I could've sworn they had two live locals and one on demand in my market. But according to their website (when I put in my address) and CNET's mastergrid, they only have one now (NBC).

It's their business strategy. Sling has opted to try to keep their price the lowest of all the OTT live TV streaming services by not including all the locals for every market. Early on they added a few here and there, or made on demand content available in certain markets, but they aren't making it a point to give everyone their locals like most of the other services seem to be doing. Of course you pay a lot more for those other services than the cheapest Sling channel package.
I'm not sure what the cheapest Sling package is going for, but i'm paying $40 for DTVN with my locals, which I think is very reasonable (considering I'm coming from $135 for Dish satellite). Like I said, the locals are important to us, as we probably watch those 4 channels more than all the rest of the "cable" channels combined, and I can't get them any other way. So no matter how inexpensive Sling might be, it's really a "non-option" for us.

Sling's cheapest base package is $25, but what it includes in terms of just cable channels is a far cry from what you can get for $40-$50 with other services. Still, if your needs are limited, and you're not picky, it's a decent option.
