unfortunately we all accepted the dish subscriber agreement that says dish reserves the right to change prices and packages at any time without notice, but it is a bummer.

I'm not even sure Charlie himself could tell you about what is going on or what the plans may be on most days. I subscribed to the Welcome Package several months ago and just automatically created a "favorites" list of all the channels that were not shopping - and actually kept HSN and QVC in the list because of the NFL offerings. Anyways, I placed channel 102 (Free Preview listings) in the favorites and would adjust them monthly. Recently, I just started checking out the entire guide.

ESPN Classic was never part of the Welcome Package and I was getting it on Thursday evening and never stopped until last night. Now, I've noticed that I'm getting NHL Network on 403 (no biggie as I get it with Center Ice anyways). I'm certainly not complaining as I'd love to get ESPN Classic (or more channels in general) with the Welcome Package. My point, however, is as I said above. I'm not sure there is a real consistent direction at DISH. And neither of those channels (ESPN Classic or NHL Network) or on Free Preview. Or at least they are not listed on 102.

I just got a trouble call on this situation...not only does dish not tell their customers it also appears they do not educate their staff!

Here is what was posted to the DISH Network Retailer Website.

We’re adding “ESPN Classic” to DISH Network’s popular Multi-Sport Package effective March 20, 2010. With the Multi-Sport Package customers can enjoy 24-hours a day sports coverage from such channels as “NFL Network,” “NBA TV,” the “Big Ten Network,” the “NHL Network” and “NFL RedZone” for just $5.99 per month. And now with the addition of
“ESPN Classic” subscribers to the Multi-Sport Package can also enjoy viewing some of the greatest moments in sports history.

Please note that effective March 20, 2010 “ESPN Classic” will no longer be available in America’s Top 200 or higher programming packages or DishLATINO Dos or higher programming packages.

“ESPN Classic” is where fans discover the stories that make sports history, with a seemingly endless library of legendary sporting events, including the largest collection of boxing footage in the world. “ESPN Classic” gives viewers the chance to relive the greatest sports moments in history ... or discover them for the very first time.

I love how the wording in the release emphasizes how they are adding ESPN Classic to the sports package, while downplaying the fact that it is being removed from another package. After reading that release, I almost feel like I am supposed to thank them for taking one of my channels away!

Just to be clear, while some of those may be ONLY in the Multi-Sport Package, according to this: America's Top 200 Package - Over 200 Channels From DISH Network the NFL Network is still part of AT200 (and AT250). Any reason to think the same thing that happened to ESPN Classic will happen to NFL Network?

You might be correct on that... I might be thinking of the NHL package preview we had a few weeks ago... everything blends together after awhile. :)

Wow...some great "Spin" to promote a channel moving away from a package that many get without having to spend 5.99
Do you guys really expect ANY company to NOT "spin"? They pay people to show their company & decisions in the best light possible. Heck, it's not even about business, it's almost human nature.

Just noticed this as well and of course jumped on this site to see what was going on (great site). Anyway, I watch ESPN Classic about about as much as I watch the Home Shopping Network so no big loss for me. The real question now is should Dish change their programming package names accordingly......I think I now have the Americas Top 249 Package :)
I guess you only change the name of a package if you add channels, not delete them.

I had a CSR online tell me NHL HD was in the platinum package. Can anyone confirm what packages the following channels are in?
NHL HD
NBA HD
NFL HD
NFL Red Zone HD

I have the first 3 in the AT-250 package. No Red Zone though.

I will miss ESPN-CL just for the old bowling games. That's all I was looking at that there and $6.00 just for that is not worth it to me.

ESPN Classic was pretty good when they first started. They showed Classic Wide World of Sports show highlights and didn't have a score update scrolling on the bottom of the screen. They do now and it's just not as good. They have so many shows they could show but never do. Shame.

Wow, that sucks. My wife is going to be bummed. ESPN Classic has some soccer games on occassion. She was considering jumping to the Top 250 package for Fox Soccer Channel, so maybe we'll end up doing that. I'm not entirely sure we'd watch many of the other channels though. Anything else good that you get going from the Top 200 to 250?
