Has anyone heard of this....

I had D* (sub) over to fix an H20 that would not turn on. He clipped off the ground prong from the power cord and ran a piece of 10awg to the ground screw of the outlet to the H20. and it works fine. He said that this was happening so frequently that D* Tech issued this as a solution to fix a grounding short. I don't know but it works!

I seriously cant believe that directv would tell its subs/retailers to do this but I can see a tech who doesnt have a replacement receiver doing this to save time and Bullsh!t a customer.

I had them do the same to mine when they were out last, before I knew what he was doing ....
I was experiencing occasional audio glitching and that was his solution.
Then he changed me over to the Slimline dish and all has been well since then.
I figured the DISH is what fixed my problem, not the ground, but seeing I no longer have grounds on my rec's, looks like an issue I can take up with D* if I have other issues.
