I've got Dish America Gold (was Turbo HD) for $49.99/mo & paperless/autopay.
It's pretty clear that I won't get any new HD channels with this plan (e.g. BBC America HD), so I'm contemplating the switch to America's Top250 + HD (must have Versus, Science Channel...)
This will be $64.99/mo, right? (no charge to add the HD "for life"?)

Other than losing some of the channels that are in Platinum (HD Theater, Palladia,...), any other way I get short-changed by Dish on this swap?

Thanks in advance,

Shorty

If you want to save some money, you can annual prepay on AT250, it runs $622.72. Note it does not include locals $5.99/DVR Fee/service plan/extra receivers/etc which continue to be billed monthly. Even if you add in the $5.99*12 for locals (71.88) for $694.60 it is still less than the 64.99*12 or $779.88. You save $85.28 which is about half your DAGold to AT250 upgrade cost. Of course you have to pay up front and it is serious cash. But, you are also locked into the rate for the year if they raise AT250 next February.

There is no more annual plans they have been phased out and if you have it you are grandfathered and if you make a change you may loose it

Hello this is Phillip Chang with DISH Network, just read the post just wanted to give you props for all your help and continuing to provide everyone with useful information.

Some annual plans such as the Mega Movie Package have been discontinued. Dish still offers the AT packages annually. The only issue you may have is finding a CSR that can figure out how to key in the correct information. I converted to annual AT last month. Premiums such as HBO/SHO are available annually, but the Mega Movie package that included HBO/SHO/Starz/Cinemax for one discounted price has been discontinued.

Locals/DVR Fees/receiver fees/etc are billed monthly.

I'm billed monthly amd in my bill there is no additional charge for locals. When I had my 722 installed I did pay $%.99 extra per month for them.

Yes if you pay monthly they are included in the AT package price.

If you sub annually for AT250 you will pay:

America's Top 250 - Annual 622.73
HBO - Annual 165.51

then a monthly charge of $5.99 (this is cut and pasted from my bill 922+2 211s):

Locals 5.99
DVR Service 10.00
HD 250 Free 0.00
HD Solo Receiver 7.00
HD Solo Receiver 7.00

Note that 622.73 is $51.89 vs the AT250 monthly charge $64.99 which includes locals. So 51.89+5.99=$57.88 a savings of $7.11 a month.

Locals 5.99

HD 250 Free 0.00
HD Solo Receiver 7.00
HD Solo Receiver 7.00

Who can figure out why there are different charges. Here is my breakdown

America's Top 250 $64.99
HD Solo Receiver $7.00
DVR Service $6.00
HD 250 Free $0.00
.................
Total
$77.99
Why I get billed $6.00 for DVR Services and you get billed $10, I don't know.

The 922 is $10, the 622/722/612/etc are $6.

I work for dish and as of December 16, we no longer offer AT packages or the movie packages for a year anymore. If you have it your grandfathered in but only until you make a change

Too bad that Dish has discontinued them. It was a nice option. I have used annual probably for 6 of 11 years. The other years AEP was a better deal (after they dropped mega movie pack). I just switched back, I guess just in time. Slowly but surely Dish is making their service less desireable.
