I have an AM21 connected to the HR34 / Genie.

When I set up the Antenna, I specify a zip code in my home DMA, Fort Myers, FL and a zip code in a secondary market, Tampa-St Pete-Sarasota, FL.

The resulting list is always missing some valid channels, but different ones each time through. I can't see any correlation. Also, all the multicast content for a channel is missing (e.g.- 20-1, 20-2 and 20-3).

Is there a limited number of 'slots'?

Thanks,
DrOrb

no there is no "limit"....think of folks in places like Chicago, LA or NY where there are tons of channels

The thing with the HR34/AM21 setup is the zip code thing really is useless as it "scans" for channels. If it can't find a signal it wont show up in the maps. I learned that the hard way. I loaded my zip (Minneapolis) in then as a secondary loaded Mankato (50 miles down the road....can get them OTA) but forgot to hook up that antenna (long story). Would not show 12-1 & 12-2. If I plugged in that antenna then it loaded fine.

The HR2X models loaded them by zip.

looking at a list these channels are in the database (will show guide info)...but again you need to have a signal for the HR34 to log them

I know sometimes you need to do a antenna reset (there is an option in the menus) to clear everything then reload the zip codes again

Thanks, Iceberg-

I didn't realize it was scanning channels- I thought the creeping bar was related to listings.

Anyway, each time I try I use 'Initial Settings'. It's true that the most distant (weakest) signals aren't included. But, each time I run it, at least one powerful, close-by, network affiliate is passed over.

When I do a signal strength test after the fact, the missing channel(s) are among the hottest.

I'm going to fiddle with attenuation / amplification (each of the two markets is captured on a separate antenna).

Thanks Again,
DrOrb

Update:

Attenuating the signal from the local antenna did the trick; the AM21/HR34 combination added all the appropriate OTA channels.

Two TVs connected directly to the antennas had no problem with their scanning results.

weird that its overdriving the signal.
TV's probably have a little more tolerance to a powerful signal
