Is it Easy to get a HR24 from DirecTV? & Whole Home DVR question

I want to get a HR24 by December. I Currently have 1 HDDVR(HR20) & 4 DVR(R22). I want to give back one of the DVR(R22)'s and buy a HDDVR(HR24). Is it still hard to get the HR24 should I ask them now for it?

And will the Whole Home DVR service work with the HR24 & HR20?

When ordering through Directv there is no guarantee. If you are going to buy and accept the 2 year lease on it go to a site like Overstock.com to get one.

my buddy who is a senior installer/tech with mastec says (at least in my area) the only way you get an hr24 is to order whole home. plus, he showed me on his truck where there have been an abundance of refurbed 24's.

Hi... I have been a D* customer for several years (beyond my original contract) I ordered MRV and upgraded to a new HD DVR as well (for two total and two HD receivers.) I did NOT get an HR24 for either DVR. In fact I kept me HR20 and got another HR20. Other than the occasional draggy slow bug, I'm very happy with the system. I asked my installer about an HR24 and he said he had seen very few of them.

Got 2 HR24's installed today with MRV. It probably depends on your region (I'm in the Dallas area).
