Is there any way a 6.3 remote will work on a Hopper?

I prefer the feel of the old remote.
Is there any possibility I could have a 6.3 in addition to the newer remotes?

Thrashman, thanks.
dwarren2, your insight sounds very encouraging.

This is one of my primary concerns before abandoning the VIPs for the Hopper.

I said it would do basic functions. But it would be like driving a Model T on an interstate. The Hopper remote has so many more functions than the 6.3. The only reason I still have the old VIP remotes is that the installer didn't want them when I got my Hoppers. The basic layout of the Hopper remote is very similar to the 6.3, just has some added keys to take advantage of the Hopper's capabilities. My technophobe wife had no problem switching from a VIP remote to that of the Hopper.

Isn't it old remotes will work in IR mode and must be set to address #1.

They did not have to be address one. However, if using a 3rd party remote, ie Harmony, it had to be address one. I found that out after hours of frustration and phone calls to Harmony.
