KU band reception without a dish

I think a lot of us already have GeoSat Pro LNBFs, so I think he meant that you don't need to buy a Maverick just for this.
Outernet is an effort to make a low cost device capable of one-way reception of selected internet content. Its in its third iteration. First it was KU band with a dish, then L-Band (no dish), and soon it will be KU band without a dish.
The idea is to make internet content available to isolated areas of the world that don't have it.
Personally, I am more interested in the tech part of it. But I have no desire for one-way internet.
A receive only system that catalogs approved library materials and an audio stream to a drive is about as safe as it can get. 
Outernet recently announced their new frequency and satellite (11.9024 GHz from SES-2).
They are using a relatively new modulation method known as 'LoRa', which performs well in high noise environments. Its uses a spread spectrum and can receive a signal even if it is below the noise floor.
