I didn't have to but i did about 1 to 2 pounds at the bottom half .
The fortec could handle it with out cutting it ,just wanted to be safe then sorry .
I purchased 150 acres and the dish was the first thing i had to do before the wife changes her mind...lol

Cool. I have a spare ASC Signal 1.2 (molded dish) and a WildBlue mount laying around now...wonder if that new SG6100 motor would handle it. Hmmmm...
Bet that Wild Blue mount is a pleasure to fine tune.
Might shave another pound by replacing the heavy LNBF with a new PLL model. :up

I was just looking at your pictures.
Of course you want to reduce total weight.
And you certainly want the best fine tuning available.
Looks like the Wild Blue mount does both in style.
Another thing you want reduce, is the side load on the motor bearings.
So get the dish mass as close to the center of the motor output shaft.
(Further away means more leverage on the bearings)
And get that mass as low down & close to the bearings as possible.
(The higher up it is, the more leverage it has)
With these points in mind, look how far that heavy LNBF is from the motor shaft!
A single pound is multiplied by all that distance.
Shaving a pound there, might be like shaving five off the dish! :up
So with little excuse for circular reception any more ...
Lastly, it is hard to tell from the pictures, but it kinda looks like the Wild Blue mount moves your dish up and away from the motor output shaft.
If true, that will reduce the life of your expensive & irreplaceable motor.

tHANKS FOR YOUR INPUT and i will try to push down some more but had a hell of a time because the shaft on the motor was a little bigger.
