'NCIS: Los Angeles' to end with season 14

CBS announced on Friday that 'NCIS: Los Angeles' has been canceled after 14 seasons. The series finale will air May 14.

It's such a hokey series. Nothing like JAG the series that NCIS was spun off of.

All of these shows are pretty much the same. Almost as robotically put together as a Hallmark Christmas movie. A mix of the 7 or 8 out of the 12 or so stock characters that are in all such shows. NCIS, CSI, L&O, Hawaii Five-0, the Chicago deals, etc.

NCIS LA is tired. It is time for it to end. The original actors have long since aged out of their roles, and the new characters are written in a woke way that seems aimed exactly at the kind of person who wouldn't watch a spy vs. spy, the US is the good guys action shoot em up type show in the first place.

It was time.

Unfortunate to see, I enjoy most all of those on the show.

There was thoughts of it ending around the time when Nell and Eric left the show, thats been a few years now.

The Hawaii show is yet another level of woke beyond LA and NO. Tried it for a couple of episodes, not worth it.

All of the NCIS shows, of course, require one to believe that an obscure government agency whose real job is rousting drunken sailors and auditing defense contractors to find 4 cent over-charges on a case of #73A type wing nuts is this great action hero spy-smasher deal. And also that every bad guy in the world has access to fully automatic rifles which they spray 1000s of rounds at our heroes but never manage to ever hit anything. You would think there is at least one bad guy out there who took a basic firearms course.

tbh, New Orleans was probably the closest to being accurate (which isn't really saying anything) with LA being the farthest from reality. NCIS hasn't been in the spy game since the old NIS was split up in 1991 with non-criminal investigations going to the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI). The "C" in NCIS was specifically added to show that they were no longer in the intelligence game and were strictly a criminal investigation service. NCIS:LA really should have been called ONI.

I really liked JAG (oddly Paramount Plus has a hodgepodge of episodes of JAG, including one part but not the other of two part shows, for no apparent reason) and it was more realistic than any of the NCIS shows. Not perfect, mostly because lawyers are a lot easier and cheaper to train than fighter pilots, SEALS, and so on.

Oddly, they had the Mac character show up on NCIS:LA a couple of years ago. Still a light colonel and still in the USMC, which would make her stuck in a rank for like 20 years, which she would have been long retired in real life.

I've found that time in grade restrictions are never really accurate in any television show.

So NCIS has a, IMHO, pretty good ending.

Three fourths is just another spy smasher shoot em up. Then a not very syrupy wedding (most shows would have just done a whole wedding show). Then the pregnancy thing, which you could see coming a mile away. And then, and I like this, the two original protagonists just go on to the next adventure, rather than the "breaking up the gang" with long farewell scenes most shows do. I liked that, plus the appearances by some of the written out characters.

Did the city explode and everyone died. That seemed to be the premise of every episode to try to stop.

Looks like LL is going to have a recurring role on Hawaii. I don’t think even he can save it. I stopped watching it after the first season.
