Official DISH Channel Request Thread

The CW is abroadcast network. does DISH not carry your local affiliate?
Not if they live in a market that might be below the top 100. They be in a market that needs The CW 100+ service, as they might not have a local affielate. The only nets that clear virtually every market are the Big Four (CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX).

Or, they could be in a market where the CW switched affielates and the new affiliate doesn't have an agreement with Dish. Or, they could not realize that an affielate has a secondary agreement with The CW. Such as it clears another net (say CBS or FOX) then overnight they broadcast CW programming. Or (finally) they could be in a market where The CW is on a digital subchannel and Dish doesn't carry the subchannel. In Boston, Dish doesn't have agreements for any subchannels. Now the five networks and My Network TV (syndication service) are all on main channels and we even have a leftover independent station, so there's no need for Dish to pick up a local subchannel, but that could still be the case. If The CW carried sports, it would make a difference.

It was a neat channel. Unfortunately, the satellite the camera was on, it served past its useful life so I don’t expect to see it come back. I asked about that when I worked there. I really liked that one. Now I do it on my Apple Watch.

Dish Earth channel. I never watched it for more than a minute. I remember when I wanted to see the US lighted up at night but the glare from the sun made the earth look like a black ball with a halo around it.
Yeah, at certain times of the day there would be glare. I once recorded the channel for 6 hours straight and fast forwarded thru the recording at 300x. Got a nice view of the sun lighting up the earth as it went across the globe. I do that on occasion with NASA's earth views now.
