Problems recording ABC World News

On my HWS, recently upgraded to U226, I noticed the ABC World News was no longer recording. Aha, seems they changed the name to ABC World News With David Muir. So I deleted the series timer and created another giving me a timer that will not record the Saturday and Sunday news. So I then create another series timer for ABC World News. That's where the problem starts.

Seems the guide data for these weekend programs show new episode numbers and have the word "new" in the text description, but only Saturday will record. There is even a "New" red icon. The Sunday episode says "Recording skipped, already scheduled or recorded" in the schedule.

I've tried every record option I could think of short of setting a manual timer. Anyone have any ideas?

Set a "daily" timer for Mon - Friday for World news with David Muir and then set another "daily" timer for ABC World News. Should catch both. I have to set up two timers for both Mon - Friday and Weekends to catch both and I back it up on NBC news to give me another alternative, in case there is no ABC news due to sports overruns. This happens quite frequently in the fall and winter.

Not exactly sure what you're saying. "Daily" and "Mon-Fri" are two different options that are mutually exclusive. Anyway, if I setup ABC News with David Muir first, I have no problem with all episodes using either option. When I setup ABC World News for the weekend, any option I've tried will only record Saturday and will show Sunday as a duplicate, whether I use Daily, New and Reruns, or two weekend timers set for Weekly. I don't believe the conflict has anything to do with Monday - Friday, only between Saturday and Sunday.

Interestingly, if I only setup ABC World News, it will show all the Monday-Friday episodes as "no longer in guide" but still won't record Sunday.

Are you sure this is working for you on both Saturday and Sunday?

When you select a show to dvr you go back into the timer to edit and change RECORD button to Mon -Friday instead of new only. Then it will record that show with that title Mon -Friday. On weekends you create a timer and change RECORD button to DAILY instead of new only. Then it will record that show with that title any day that it appears in the guide. So in effect it will actually record it even on week days if they change the title of the World News with David Muir to ABC World News. It covers you both ways. Yes it works and has worked for the last year or two I have used it . As far as I know that it the only two titles that ABC names their nightly news shows, so it should work for you as well. I have the same problem with my local news. They go by different titles . Some days it is Channel 12 News at 6 , on weekends it might be KBMT channel 12 news, which means I have to set up two timers and select daily to catch it if they decide to rename it.
