I am making the switch from E* (a 522 receiver with a 500 dish) to D* (2 HD DVRs and 1 standard receiver).

So right now I have a single dish on my garage with two cables running along my house, going to two rooms.

I know the dish and receiver are going to have to be replaced, but can anyone tell me:
1) will I get one new dish or two?
2) how much of the existing wiring can be used?

Thanks!

As it stands now, you'll need two runs to each DVR and one to the SD. There is a transition taking place to a system which will reduce this but it's very new and spotty as to where you can get it. Someone else may have more info. I have an HD DVR, two HD recvrs and two SD. Four RG6 lines run from my dish to a four in/eight out switch. I used quite a bit of my old wiring, including even some that was put in 18 yrs. ago when the house was built. So far, so good. Excellent signal strength. HTH
