There are over 400 stations that will do the digital switch on Tuesday Feb 17, despite the DTV Delay act allowing them to delay until June. DirecTV has been proactive in converting all their local receiving facilities to all digital, so the majority of users should see no difference when a station cuts off the analog signal.

Users that use the off-air antenna input on their DirecTV receivers may be more likely to experience problems with this switch. As stations make this change, the DirecTV box needs to either re-scan the local station, or receive the new digital channel number from the DirecTV stream, depending on the receiver.

This thread is to tell you how to rescan your receiver to attempt to locate any locals that you may lose. More imporantly, this thread is to report any issues to DirecTV with the appropriate information to get them fixed as quickly as possible.

Please copy this form and fill out the information for any station you lose access to after 2/17:

Station Callsign:
Digital Channel Number:
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA:
Your DirecTV Receiver:
Your DMA:
Your Primary Zip Code (on DirecTV receiver locals setup):
Your Secondary Zip Code (again on the receiver locals):
Did you re-do Antenna Setup (for OTA):

Again, please ONLY report issues with a station you lose access to following the 2/17 transition, AFTER you rescan for local stations.

H2x (non-dvr) users:
Rescan for locals by going to Setup, Sat/Antenna, Antenna Setup, and re-scan for your locals.

HR2x (HD DVR) users:
The HR series does not scan for locals, rather it depends on a list table from the satellite stream of what stations should appear on what digital channel. That said, before reporting a lost channel try a re-do of your antenna setup, Setup, Sat/Antenna, Antenna Setup, Initial Setup.

If you still can't access a station after 2/17 that you could access prior, then please copy/paste the form above and complete the information so DirecTV can check into it.

Attached is a list of stations switching on or before 2/17.

I guess I'll go first.

Station Callsign: WMBB
Digital Channel Number: 13-2 Subfeed
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA
Your DirecTV Receiver: HR20-700 & HR20-100 (4 total)
Your DMA: Panama City, FL
Your Primary Zip Code (on DirecTV receiver locals setup): 32401
Your Secondary Zip Code (again on the receiver locals):
Did you re-do Antenna Setup (for OTA): Yes - got 13-1 back but still missing 13-2

WMBB moved from ch19 back to ch13 when they dropped their analog. I lost both channels when the changeover happened (13-1 & 13-2). I redid the antenna setup and after it finished downloading, I had 13-1 back. I cannot get 13-2 however. I get a strong signal of 89-91 on 13-2 (&13-1) but all the display says is "searching for signal". Something mismatched in the database I guess.

Before the re-do of antenna set up 25-1 was missing as well. Re-do restored that one, but not 25-2 and 25-3.

Station Callsign: KCAU
Digital Channel Number:9.1 9.2
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA
Your DirecTV Receiver: HR20-700
Your DMA: Sioux City
Your Primary Zip Code (on DirecTV receiver locals setup): 50588
Your Secondary Zip Code (again on the receiver locals): none
Did you re-do Antenna Setup (for OTA): yes, more than once.

KCAU moved their digital from UHF to 9 (where they were analog) now there's no trace of them (no signal at all) on HR20, but I get them fine with antenna plugged into TV.

Station Callsign: KMEG
Digital Channel Number:14.2
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA

Station Callsign: KPTH
Digital Channel Number: 44.2
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA

Subchannel disappeared on both (771) but does have adequate signal strength; again both come in just fine with antenna directly into TV.

Station Callsign:WITV
Digital Channel Number:7-2 and 7-3
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA
Your DirecTV Receiver:HR20-100
Your DMA:Charleston, SC
Your Primary Zip Code (on DirecTV receiver locals setup):29466
Your Secondary Zip Code (again on the receiver locals):N/A
Did you re-do Antenna Setup (for OTA):Yes

This station did remap from 49 to 7 and shuffled their programming to different channels. I rescanned and did receive the HD feed but the other two subchannels I could not get.

Station Callsign: WILXDT2
Digital Channel Number: 10-2
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA
Your DirecTV Receiver: HR20-100 and HR21-100 (with AM-21)
Your DMA: Lansing, MI
Your Primary Zip Code (on DirecTV receiver locals setup): 48827
Your Secondary Zip Code (again on the receiver locals): 49001

Both were Searching for signal originally upon switch from UHF (57) to VHF (10). 10-1 came back after Antenna Setup/Initial Setup... 10-2 lists name in guide but still gets 771 Searching for signal (even though the setup shows 100 percent signal strength - same as 10-1) .

On another set without DTV - just an OTA with D/A converter, reset 10-2 works.... so this is a DTV HR issue, not a 10-2 feed issue.

Station Callsign: KDEN
Digital Channel Number: 25-1 (but is incorrectly showing as 29-3 in guide)
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA
Your DirecTV Receiver: HR21-100
Your DMA: Denver
Your Primary Zip Code (on DirecTV receiver locals setup): 80021
Your Secondary Zip Code (again on the receiver locals):
Did you re-do Antenna Setup (for OTA): Yes

The station is in the guide is listed incorrectly as 29-3 KDENDT and when tuning to it, there's no signal. The actual digital channel is 29-1 and the virtual is 25-1. The signal strength meter shows no signal but I have a feeling it needs to be mapped to actual digital 29-1 instead of 29-3. I confirmed video and good signal strength with the above correct settings with my monitor's built-in ATSC tuner.

KVPT-DT
virtual 18-1,18-2,18--3 real channel 40-1,40-2 40-3
over the air
HR20-700
Fresno,Ca.
93221
yes I reset the receiver and redid setup
Before KVPT turned off its analog signal everything was fine. Now 18-1,18-2, 1nd 18-3 are in the guide but I get no signal. The tuner in my TV does receive the signal.

KOLN 10.1 (CBS) works now but 10.2 (MyTV) does not work. It worked before the conversion. Says cant find signal.

* What zip code you're using to get guide data: 68501 (seconarday)
* What channels are affected: KOLN 10.2 MyTV (10.1 CBS works OK)

Received confirmation that KCAU is setup for 9.1 / 9.2

If you still can't get it, you may have a UHF antenna that can't receive the signal from the new station 9 (VHF).

The table information is pointing to channel 9.

Any idea how long it's going to take D* to correct these issues? I'd like my NBC subs back.

Check last night and my -2 subfeed is back. Working fine today. D* must have corrected it as I did not do anything further since my 1st rest.

Station Callsign: KWTX
Digital Channel Number: 10.1 and 10.2
Acquiring via DirecTV LiL or OTA: OTA
Your DirecTV Receiver: HR23-100 and HR20-700 and H20-100
Your DMA: Waco, Temple, Killeen, TX
Your Primary Zip Code (on DirecTV receiver locals setup): 76542
Your Secondary Zip Code (again on the receiver locals): 78729
Did you re-do Antenna Setup (for OTA): Yes

Before the digital switch, I could get 10.1 and 10.2 on all three receivers. After the switch, I could not get 10.1 and 10.2 on the HR23 and the HR20 only. The H20-100 is okay. I re-ran the antenna setup several times on the HR20 and HR23 and the 10.1 came in but still no 10.2. It has been several days and several more antenna setups and receiver resets and still no 10.2. I forgot to mention that I can pick up all of the stations and subs from my secondary zip which is about 60 miles away.
