Should I get the 811 or 921?

I need everyone's opinion. I'm going to sign up with dish and want to know which reciever is better the 811 or 921
Any feedback is a great help to me

Hard to say, you'll just have to look at the pros/cons and decide.

I'll start:

PRO: 811 is free! (to new subs)

CON: 921 is $1,000 to ANY sub.


So if recording HD is worth $1,000 to you, then get the 921.
If you just want to record SD satellite stuff, you could also get a 522/811 for free with your installation.

You could also wait for the 942.

Actually I don't think either is better than the other. They are pretty much equal.

Then again, the 921 has a DVI-I output which could be broke out to VGA. The 811 has simultanious output of its HD and SD outputs.

Have you considered D* vs. E*? The DirecTivo HD box appears to be running much better then the 921, has two vs. one OTA ATSC tuner and seems to have better availability. D* HDTV STB's run around $300 but again they seem to have less reported problems then the 811. Just asking.
