FYI to administrators. For the last week or so this site will stop working on my machine. After a few seconds it will close and I will get one of those error messages to send to Microsoft. Ordinarily, I would expect this to be a problem with my machine or network connection, however, it happens only on this site.
 
Which browser are you using?

It could be a combination of things, triggered by something(s) unique to this site, that are causing something on your system to crash, but, it indeed could still be a machine issue on your end, as if this were commonplace for browsers to be crashing on this site, the forums would be littered with evidence of such.

BTW, you'll never get a 'reply' from sending data to microsoft, it's just pushed into a database, if it's reported enough by different machines, it _might_ get attention, but you will never get notified personally.
 
There have been reports of problems with MS06-042 causing IE to exit on Windows 2000 and XP with some web sites using compressed HTML 1.1. Here's what we got from our Patch Coordinator:
Microsoft's security update from Aug. 8 to Internet Explorer is causing browser trouble for some systems.

After people apply the MS06-042 update, rated "critical" by Microsoft, IE may crash when certain Web sites are viewed, the company said in a notice on its customer support Web site. The problem affects IE 6 with Service Pack 1 on Windows XP and Windows 2000 systems, it said.

"Microsoft has identified an issue with the security update MS06-042," the company said in a statement Tuesday. It plans to re-release the bulletin and patch on Aug. 22 for all affected users.

The problem occurs when IE users view Web sites that use version 1.1 of HTTP alongside compression, according to Microsoft's notice. HTTP, or hypertext transfer protocol, is the standard protocol used to browse Web sites.

IE users on security mailing lists have reported browser crashes when using PeopleSoft applications that have Web-based interfaces. Others report running into problems when using other applications, including Microsoft's own customer relationship management, or CRM, tools.

"We are running PeopleSoft for administration systems, and our Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP1 running Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 crash when they got into the PeopleSoft pages," Fred Dunn, a systems administrator at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, said in an e-mail interview.

Dunn called Microsoft's product support service, which recommended disabling the use of HTTP 1.1 in IE's advanced settings menu. However, that's not a change that's easily done on all PCs in the university, Dunn said. "Our only workaround was to get the PeopleSoft programmers to turn off compression...which slows down the response," he said.

MS06-042 is an update for IE that addresses eight vulnerabilities in the popular browser. It is one of a dozen security updates that Microsoft released last week on Patch Tuesday.

Patches have caused trouble at times, on occasion prompting Microsoft to fix already released updates. In April, it released a second version of a Windows Explorer update because the original interfered with Hewlett-Packard software and Nvidia drivers. In June, it had to fix a patch that caused network connection trouble for some people.

Microsoft has a temporary fix available for the problems caused by MS06-042. However, this fix is not available for download; people have to call Microsoft's support line.
This may not be your problem, but Hey! We're talking Microsoft here...
 
To add to what Foxbat posted, there is a workaround:

1. Start Internet Explorer 6.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Settings box, click to clear the Use HTTP 1.1 check box under HTTP 1.1 settings, and then click OK.
 
Thanks for the help. The problem occurred daily before I started this thread. It hasn't happened since. Just like taking the car to the mechanic hear the "funny noise," now everything sees to be ok.
 
It happened again. I looked at the information being sent to Microsoft. It was mostly a list of hardware & software, temp files and things like Code 0xc0000005. It explained nothing to me. Guess it is time for a clean install...
 
For the past 5 min I've been having trouble getting Satelliteguys to load at all. I just not got back in.

Ditto.

It is one of the peers that satguys hosting provider uses for pipe, PNAP, they suck pretty bad. :\
 
This is one of those catch 22's about moving to a provider like this, at our old ISP they had ONLY ONE peer to the internet, and when that peer had issues, no one could get to SatelliteGuys.

This ISP has numerous peers to various networks including Internap.

So if a Peer goes down, some folks will have trouble getting to the site, while others coming in via different backbone connections will come in fine.

Yea, consider the rule about providers, "You can have a provider that's fast & reliable, one that's fast & cheap, or one that's reliable & cheap, but you can never have one with all 3 (fast, cheap and reliable) at once."

Yup. I can access via PDA phone, but not via DSL. All packets are dropped somewhere at or after Level3 in Dallas.
 
Ok, it just came back!
 
I'm not far from the Level3 circuit in Dallas. I would guess that AT&T has a direct line into that circuit here.
 
For the past week or so, I have been having a strange problem with just this site. Other forum are not displaying this symptom. When I click on a link to a thread or lower forum or "back", the display hangs. If I click "stop", the page displays correctly. It's like the last, ok I'm done, packet is being dropped.
 
I just rebooted the web server, it was acting strange and eating up a large amount of resources. :)

Seems snappier now as well. :D
