Hi,

The below is a C&P from another forum.

Code:
Your a month late nor people understand how the DCII authorization system works. The Dirty Dead has already has been done and it was done Dirt Cheap. Batwing is the keeper of the Keys. Since they did not send authorization Key in the data stream for next month it already has been:
Pre KILLED. There is a clock and a calender as part of the authorization system. The DCII clock knows what day it is and when it time to shut down. Batwing will be sleeping when they go off. No button will be pressed or switch flipped on December 26.

So lets have a party like watching the Ball go down on Time square on New Years EVE. Out with the old and bring on the New Year.h

I am a former VOOM Subscriber and been there a went thru it once before. I promise The shut down will not hurt too bad or for a very long time. All that will happen DCII will be sleeping to be awaken after the firmware is updated if you buy the W5 programing.

Herman

Code:
If W5 did not happen then I can see they turn it in to a complete zombie. They have to leave some keys in so they can update the firmware for the 410 W5 stream. If they did not have the keys anyone could of hacked the box.

There going to leave the tiles but if the Batwing lady sings she could get rid of the channel maps for the generics and leave the tiles. Even the Excess VOOM STB were used for Star Choice so they want to be able to use the 922 for the W5ers a complete kill is unlikely..

What will be interesting is after DEC 26 check to see if the data clock is still running, If clock is still running the 4DTV stream is still there.

They can do all of this months ago just like a Trojan Horse Virus.
The clock and calender counts down to D Day and surprise the channel maps are gone.

There can be some people run past Dec 26 but their clock and calender has to be corrupted. You see this with a power glitch and NPS did a reset the clock for the sub. Same thing happens when a single program sub was ended. If they sent next month keys you would be shut off by the next month.

We can only look a history of the VOOM shut down. I never heard about a VOOM box running after Motorola shut it down by not sending authorization keys but the guide still worked and had listings. This kept up for couple of month until the stop send channel maps weeks after shut down.

There really nowhere to run an hide the dirty deed has already been done.
Having 4DTV generics only limits what left of ITC QPSK Generics which is not much. It best to buy a DSR 4800/ 4810. Then you get the megapipe/ combmode and even then there is limited amount of theses channel that are ever ITC. There worth about a $100 bucks and you will have some use for it after they change everything over the 8PSKDCII or eventually fiber. They tune standard DVBS mpegII and with a HHD1100 you can also watch 4:2:0 4:2:2 SD and HD.

This poster is talking about the monthly working keys. They are sent with one month in advance. The longest a receiver can go without an update auth is 2 months. This will only affect the subscription channels when encrypted. Actually what will happen if you have the next months keys or not once the 4096 (datastream) EMM is pulled the channel will not decode in encrypted mode since the unit will be searching for that EMM for a decryption ok command. (pointer needed for the working key)

There is no time bomb that can be planted to wipe out the maps. I have a DSR 405 running on Shaw with old maps for the free stuff. It has been OC for years. And the old maps still work. The only way the maps can be wiped out is they have to get taken out by a update of information which Motorola can do at anytime. If Motorola leaves it alone they will stay until corruption takes out your unit and you need to do a MR.

LOLOLOL @ Herman!

He's the "4DeadTV" guy. Your stupid for even hanging onto your 4DTV... didn't you know that? If there's any doubt left in your mind, just go to Sat Forums and Herman will tell you just how tiny your brain is. Then he'll tell you that you need to be better informed & link you to the library of congress.

You wanna know what's really funny? The whole time I was reading that, I was thinking to myself... "this sounds like something Herman would write". Then when I get to the bottom... it was him! ROTFL!!!

Don't worry about Herman's theory about 4DTV. He actually is a pretty smart guy, but for some reason, he hates 4DTV. You have to view anything he says about 4DTV through that lens. Oh, and keep your 4DTV unit away from the grassy knoll.

Cheers

I read those idiots posts before over on satforums. There seems to be some that are very arrogant over there and if you don't agree with them your hung. I think that Herman guy hates the 4dtv because he was a dealer years ago and something bad happened.

It's funny you look at all the activity going on here at satellite guys and there is always something new and exciting going on. Every since the chase the 4DTV crowd away happened at satforums you see a few posts a week if your lucky. Until they chase that new guy away.

That or everyone with sense followed me over here. LOL. That place sure got quiet after I stopped posting.

Hey, TVROPro, I would ask myself but they're more likely to listen to you. Could you ask SRL to remove the link to satforums on their website and change it to a direct link to the 4DTV section here? If some potential W5 subscriber finds SRL's website and gets linked to satforums they're going to get scared off.

I will mention it through channels.

That is how I found that site and post what is above, I am new to the 4DTV forums as all I did was setup my Dsr922 call Skyvision for programming and when TNT moved I called NPS so I could get TNT, USA etc. But I had subscription with both at the same time as I had the Denver pack with sky on a yearly subscription. I am a member of other forums that deal with Fta etc but never considered a 4DTV forum.

I figured since the forum was connected to the Programming Center website that the Mods and posters would at least have your interest at heart, so I thought Herman knew something that others here had miss. I am glad I post it now as I would know how to view information on that site.

Thanks,

Candid

IMHO those guys on Satforums helped take away quite a few that would have stayed with the 4DTV and converted them to pizza dish. I have visited there quite a bit to try to read between the lines with what was posted. There actually were a few informative posts many years ago. This whole year it was the 4DTV is dead get pizza or cable and NPS and Dish Network is God with what they are doing. It seems there was always a lynching going on there of one member or the other if they posted something pro 4DTV. Maybe they should rename that site the 4DTV vs pizza war zone :) Not a good place to go looking for pro information on the 4DTV.

It seems a few have posted links to our forum there lately so at least there is a ray of hope for some who wander in.

I go over there about as much as I do this forum. I admit, I am a little worried about what is going on and I am trying to stay caught up as much as I can, so I go back and forth. That Herman guy used to be such a smart @$$ to me, so I quit posting much over on that one because I can only take some much of someone telling me how "lacking of intelligence" I am on this technology. I know I don't know everything, but I do know what I know and when I ask about something, I would like to have a straight and honest answer. Not some know-it-all telling me how bad I am for doing what I do or ask about. I like my 4dtv, I do have dish for my wife and kids, but I also love FTA stuff. Anyway, I didn't mean to rant. I just know how frustrating dealing with him is. I read that post on the other forum and knew exactly that was about. Chromer / Herman, whatever his name is.

I think the recent follow-ups here all show how much we appreciate the polite way in which this board is operated! Bravo! No ill wishes to any other similar board...(I'm not a member anywhere else nor do I use another site) but....I left a "radio" related board for similar reasons. One should not have to use an "ignore" feature if the board is operated responsibly and members are polite with each other! Congrats to Scott and the moderators, along with my fellow members here for doing just that!

Wonder how well that Herman's pizzia sub works when it's pissin down rain????, my bell sub dies on me, but the 4Dtv doesn't miss abeat. Maybe that why they make them as a pvr's so when it rains atleast you can watch something that you recorded, very thoughtful of Dish LOL

Pretty soon the heavy rain areas of the country get free hard drive upgrades that will hold a whole month's worth of programming on several channels?

Pizza goes out, my Direct dies when bad cells roll through. My 4DTV stays at 99Q :) I hate that about ku. Herman would answer that the weather is not a factor and he only lost signal for a few minutes. Few minutes  BS. I have seen Direct out as much as an hour at a time and up and down for hours as the storms roll through. And that's using a 90cm dish on DBS which gives me a heck of allot more gain over stock antenna. Thats just BS, my bud works in a Monsoon.

My S2 goes out in storms, but I think it's the wind moving the dish not the rain itself. Reg DVB and DCII keep working.

What if you do not subscribe to NPS ?
We get our W5 subs from SLR/skyvision right now, Dropped NPS when they were less than honest.
Is my dsr922 a sitting duck from motorola with this KILL HIT on the 26th too?

Here's the thing even though you won't get turned off on the 26th you are capable of getting anything Motorola may be sending out at that time along with that. We can't be sure what will happen since nobody has access to that info. Myself and others would rather be safe than sorry.

You can read more at my site under Safety First:

Thanks, read that site (hence the question). Appreciate the response... Should have FTA running by then, so we're gonna be on the safe side I guess. Funny, we got sold programming right up to the 5th with no mention of this possible outcome. (another $$ grab)

I think i will unhook the coaxial cable on the 25th and leave it unhooked till the 5th( my sub runs out on Jan. 20th) i will miss my 922 but i do not want Motorola doing anything stupid either. The 922 is more spot on as a dish mover than my V-box. I will just have to settle with my crappy Bell sub until the 5th thanks for the info
