The OFFICIAL DISH / HBO Thread

I don't have a 4k TV yet either. But I do have a 4k monitor for my desktop.

Might I not string an HDMI cable to that to sample 4k content to see if bandwidth will handle it? Is there any content available to try it or is it all pay?
Speaking of sample 4K content, on my Wally when I go to On Demand > Browse By Channel > Epix
there is a 4K folder. Whenever I select it, I only get "No Titles Found." I guess this makes sense, since the Wally does not support 4K. But then, why is the folder there? You would think that they could at least put some teasers there (even in just regular HD) to advertise for what 4K content is available from Epix, to try to convince us to upgrade our receivers to actually watch it in 4K. On the other hand, the non-4K advertisements in the 4K folder would probably confuse people who actually do have 4K receivers, making them ask "Why aren't these events in 4K, or what are they doing in the 4K folder if they are not supposed to be 4K?"

I forgot to mention the reasons I picked Freeform, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior were for more on-demand content. I mainly picked all the Disney owned stations for Marvel and Star Wars on-demand content, and Cartoon Network for other on-demand content, such as DC Comics superheroes stuff and others.
You are a big fan of Teen Titans Go! I am guessing. ;)

Oh yeah I remember that folder now. But my 4k monitor is in the same room as my Joey. That's the same situation. I'd have to to take it out to the Hopper room which I could and try it there. I'll think about it. If I do ill start a new thread. I can't do a side by side comparison but it's better than nothing.

Next year will be a little longer. We will have to wait 366 days for the second anniversary of the HBO dispute. :raspberry
Since you can see movies anywhere these days, it's only original material that moves the needle. This time last year I had to buy the app on Amazon so I could see the conclusion to Game of Thrones and the Deadwood movie.

Nothing that HBO now has moves my needle at all. When's Westworld returning?

Good question. I'm awaiting Westworld and the final season of Man on the High Castle (I know that's Amazon and not HBO).

I'm personally awaiting HBO Max. If they carry old series like Tales from the Crypt, Dream On, The Larry Sanders Show, and Dennis Miller Live, I would happily subscribe.

Here is an uplink report that is sure to spark speculation:
Uplink Activity Updates » Blog Archive » 11/13/19 at 3:15pm ET (v08) – 27 changes seen

First, the INFO channel being removed from 301 (and moved to channel 198) could mean that they are making room to bring HBO back. But then later, the Amazon test app was moved from 303 to 301. So apparently, Amazon wanted to be placed before Netflix instead of after it. However, the VOD Network Name (which was just added) for channel 198 is "HBO." So, could Dish be bringing HBO back as a VOD-only service?

Your first supposition, no chance. Your second? I could see them putting the upcoming HBO Max on as an app. Get a commision for driving customers there (one would think).
I think it is a good idea. Of course, I also thought that Dish was going to do exactly that with HBO Now, back when Dish was still promoting HBO Now in the slate on channel 301. Nothing ever came of that, though.

My first thought was HBO Max as well. Being on the Hopper 1 and refusing to upgrade until it malfunctions, I have to use my Roku or Fire Stick to access these apps.

Something tells me that AT&T wouldn’t allow Dish to have the HBO Now or HBO Max apps on the Dish DVRs unless they could come to an agreement.

My Wally. How could this happen?

Hard drive replacement on a Dish 722 k
