Can that unit REPLACE a VIP211 with dish network?

I've seen Tivo hooked up to dish recievers, don't ask me how to do it, but I know it can be done. Tivo still charge $10 a month for service?

Tivo's HD recorder will not work with Dish. They only work with cable and a cable card. You must have a cable card or they will not work at all.

Not a Dish unit. No way it can REPLACE a 211.

Why would you want to? Just get a 622/722 instead. That'll save you a ton of hassle in actual use.

It cannot record HD or SD from the 211, unfortunately TiVo has removed all the inputs, so this new box is nearly useless except for OTA and cable.

TiVo series 2 is a better choice.
