VIP DVR Price Increase

perhaps dish grandfathered price is to avoid losing lots of customers upset by another fee increase.

my lifetime tivo fee is zero:) I didnt mind buying my tivo and paying a bit more for it

More likely they don't care about deploying new VIP installs and prefer not to encourage them.

I don't think VIP DVRs have been manufactured since the H1 release. If the youngest VIP is 5 years or so old they are nearing EOL even as a refurbs.

I'd consider cord-cutting, but at this point...I can't. Well, technically, I guess I could, but I would have to jump thru a few hurdles... I'll just stay with what I got.

I've always liked DISH over the other option...and even more so now, because of AT&T.

AT&T is my DSL provider. I despise them...
They give me a SORRY 6meg connection (actually, they lowered it to 5.9meg)...and twice last year I dealt with price increases..but no more service.
And every single month I am being hit with overages for using more than that sh***y 150gb of data they claim DSL should stay under.
I'm so sick of them. And been sick of them for 5-6 years now, when the overage crap started.

Did I mention I have 2 DSL lines? I have 1 line for my family use..streaming...etc. And I have a 2nd line for my PS4 gameplay. The PS4 line never goes above 50gb monthly..but that primary line...it goes to 300+gb month some months.

I'm so fed up with AT&T...and now they own DirecTV??? Oh boy.

I'd think Echostar stopped production of the last ViPs by the time Hopper production started. Maybe months earlier, depending upon stock on hand.

So, I see you're into Judas Priest (If you think I like you, you've got another thing coming). Well they are wrong too. Did they thing it or think it in the first place? It means think again.

Like Xavier (Paul Rodriguez) said in DC Cab "We better think about this before we do something". Uh...no, bad example.

Well, if they don't honor the $7 grandfathered anymore, if they think upping the current grandfathered prices will push existing ViP users to the Hopper, they have another thing coming.
Let me remind you of the short history of hopper fees from 2012 till today. First came out at $7.00 fee. Then it went up to $10.00 then $12.00 and now in 2016 $15.00 for the dvr fee. So hiking your price on the VIP receivers , in order to push to the higher Hopper and dvr fee, is right in line with their agenda.

"Thing" goes further back than Judas Priest. It's been attributed in print as far back as 1919.

I don't need a history lesson on the "promotional" $7 fee to get people to adopt the Hopper. :) I said back then it was artificially low, lower than even the 922 DVR fee that had a similar interface.

American newspaper, the Syracuse Standard, in 1898. Try again.
Huh?

I'm not saying that the original wasn't "think", but that the transform to "thing" occurred well before Judas Priest as you suggested.

Anyway, since you brought it up, look at a reworded (but still conveying the same meaning) version of my intended phrase:

"If Dish expects a particular outcome (thing) from their action of raising the ViP DVR fee, they have another thing (outcome) coming."

:D

This was fun.
