More likely they don't care about deploying new VIP installs and prefer not to encourage them.perhaps dish grandfathered price is to avoid losing lots of customers upset by another fee increase.
Oh, I agree, and it's inevitable. But I'll stay put until the cord-cutting time is nigh. Not exactly the way I would look at it - at some point they all need to stop increasing or the cords/signal are getting cut.
But they are such rock-solid machines that they will be alive for years to come.I'd think Echostar stopped production of the last ViPs by the time Hopper production started. Maybe months earlier, depending upon stock on hand.

If the youngest VIP is 5 years or so old they are nearing EOL even as a refurbs.
Well, if they don't honor the $7 grandfathered anymore, if they think upping the current grandfathered prices will push existing ViP users to the Hopper, they have another thing coming.I think we have a winner.
I'm sure they will do Just fine without your $50 account.Well, if they don't honor the $7 grandfathered anymore, if they think upping the current grandfathered prices will push existing ViP users to the Hopper, they have another thing coming.
they have another thing coming.
I am sorry but it's "another think coming". Look it up.
I'm not sure they even had an original "think", so I'll stick with the more popular and appropriate "thing".I am sorry but it's "another think coming". Look it up.
Let me remind you of the short history of hopper fees from 2012 till today. First came out at $7.00 fee. Then it went up to $10.00 then $12.00 and now in 2016 $15.00 for the dvr fee. So hiking your price on the VIP receivers , in order to push to the higher Hopper and dvr fee, is right in line with their agenda.Well, if they don't honor the $7 grandfathered anymore, if they think upping the current grandfathered prices will push existing ViP users to the Hopper, they have another thing coming.
I don't need a history lesson on the "promotional" $7 fee to get people to adopt the Hopper. I said back then it was artificially low, lower than even the 922 DVR fee that had a similar interface.Let me remind you of the short history of hopper fees from 2012 till today. "Thing" goes further back than Judas Priest. It's been attributed in print as far back as 1919.
Huh?American newspaper, the Syracuse Standard, in 1898. Try again.
