I'm thinking about upgraging my upstairs rec'r to a ViP222K from a SD 322. How is the reliability on the 222K? Anyone have any thoughts? Since I already have a Vip722 DVR downstairs is the switch out just swaping equipment or is programming involved? I'd like to be able to do it myself if I can find a 222K somewhere. If not, what would Dish charge?

I have one, and it is pretty reliable. The PQ quality from the "K" series boxes is noticeably superior to previous ViP generation boxes. I would say sharper and brighter. The EPG really is vivid and easier to read. I can always tell by PQ when I am watching via a "K" box.

Keep in mind the 222K does NOT come with an OTA tuner. If you want one, you must separately purchase ($29) the OTA module and install it, a very EASY process; it comes with simple instructions. The OTA module has one Ch. 3/4 output and one OTA input, but has 2 OTA tuners and allows for TV2 to access an OTA tuner, unlike previous ViP boxes.

Moved home and now my ota timers don't work right.
