[VOOM] A question on remote use.

I am using Dish which has a remote that puts the picture you are
watching up on the right corner when you are using the remote to
check programs etc. Does the Voom remote do this? Thanks,

Yes it does.

When you use the remote to activate any of the program guides (all channels, hd only, favorites), the current channel appears in the upper right corner so you can continue watching/listening while seeing what else is on the other channels.

While I agree the Voom program guide has a long way to go, it does
perform the function the original poster asked about. When in the
program guide screen, a small preview window does continue to show
live TV in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Re: [VOOM] Re: A question on remote use.

Linkinkorn kid,
Well here's the root of the problem. Someone who works for VOOM giving an
incorrect or, at least, incomplete answer. The question, as I understand
it, was whether VOOM had a picture in the corner while you were checking out
the guide to check for other programs. That is exactly how it works. While
VOOM does not do PIP in standard viewing mode it does have a preview box
while you are checking out the IPG. Do you guys actually use VOOM at home?

Re: [VOOM] Re: A question on remote use.

One thing I've learned over time is that technophiles (like many of us
here) tend to communicate in a way that seems very clear to us but
does not quite get understood by CSRs or sales folks when trying to
talk about technology products.

It drives me nuts when I call my local PC support line at work and I
know more about the PC than they do. I couldn't believe how difficult
it was to get details about my HDTV when buying it, from a Home
Theater specialty store, no less.

Of course, I can say the same thing about my job. Some of my
customers seem to know our products better than we do. They eat,
sleep, and breathe these things. I try to leave them behind at 5pm
every evening. It would be interesting to know the number of Voom
CSRs, sales, and install personnel that have Voom installed in their
homes. I think if I ran Voom (or any mass media outlet), I'd provide
the service to my employees as a perk of the job (but justify it by
the "education" that my employees would be getting on their own time).

I'm glad we've got Voom folks here in the forum. Hopefully, together,
we can develop a jargon and communcation language that's effective
between us. That said, I do hope that this list can continue to be a
constructive dialogue and Q&A forum. I'm sure we'll all get tired if
ever answer to every question becomes "Just wait 'til you see what
we've got coming next quarter!" :)

[VOOM] Re: A question on remote use.

Hello "thegrod",
This is LinkinKorn_Kid!!
The way I understand the question was if there was a way to see
another programming station in another picture so there you would be
watching two different programming at once.If so we don't have it at
this time, now with our new dvr coming out, that might have something
on there like that.Since it's not out yet,currently I don't know!
Now, If the question was if you pull up the main pop screen menu
looking for which shows are coming up what ours does is of course
make the movie or show your watching small in the righthand side and
then you will see the lettering of what showing ,but there will not
be a preview pic of whats up coming on! i hope I answered the
question. Thanks! By the way you all have excellent questions!
