Here's how it goes:
When I signed up for VOOM and had given them my address they had my zip down as 33542, "I said no, it's 33549" a minimum of 3 times. Well install day comes and I get a call from an installer who is a couple hundred miles away saying he can't find my address. I told him that's because I don't live in Ft. Walton Bch, FL, I live in Lutz, FL. So needless to say I stayed home for nothing. They re-scheduled, a nice guy shows up who knows little about VOOM or HDTV, but gets things hooked up minus the DVI cable I need and grounding anything on the system.
I call VOOM, they send a DVI cable, but the DVI outputs seem so muted (I've asked for the actual output range, PC or HD, to cal my set w/SMARTIII but have received no response). I go w/component. I wait a few days, get my local map downloaded and get OTA. Then I get these silly STB problems on HD and dashed lines in saturated colors on SD as well as the box going out for a couple of hours every afternoon when it rains.
I email about the lack of grounding and they said they would send someone out to take care of it. Never happens. I ask for the larger dish 'cause my VOOM service is useless in the afternoons in FL and they set up an appointment. I wait home, no show, they call and say they don't have the antenna and will call when they get one. The installer is real nice and calls a few days later to tell me he still doesn't have it, but will keep me posted. Never hear from him again.
I decide to cancel, call, and set up an uninstall. I get an email the next day congratulating me on my choice of VOOM and to get ready for my upcoming INSTALL. The date is correct, so I call installs inc. and tell them it is supposed to be an uninstall. They say it says install, no kidding, but lets keep the date and I'll call VOOM to get it changed to an uninstall. Call VOOM, they change my city 'cause after all these discussions they still have me living in Ft. Walton Bch even though it is at least a couple hundred miles from the zip code that they have for my address, then we change it to an uninstall. By the way, I have already had the phoine interviews for cancelling my service so I know someone knew it was an uninstall.
I get a call from VOOM the day before they are supposed to come confirming my install. "It's an uninstall", I say, "The work order says install", she says. "I have the VOOM person sitting right next to me, I will get this taken care of right away, we do radio shack and others here so it gets confusing". Great. I stay home, they call the day of the uninstall. "Our installer is sick, he can't come out today, but I know some some people in your area and they can come out on Saturday if they have the equipment". "What equipment? It's an uninstall". "It says here its an install". Oh boy, no its an uninstall and I will be here Saturday morning waiting. OK, appointment's set up. They call my wife on Friday to make sure we are ready for our install. "It's an uninstall she says". Saturday July 3rd I am supposed to be getting ready for about 30 people coming the next day, but I hold off in the AM for these guys. All day, no-one shows.
They call yesterday and want to set up an appointment for Tuesday to come out and my wife answers the phone. Okey dokey she says, "You have set up appointments a number of times and have not shown up so forget it. Call us some time when your in the area and we may be home for you to come get your stuff". That was an interesting way of handling it I thought to myself, but she's right. "The installer says he tried to call, but our phone was busy for 2 hours on Saturday", she says. What a load of crap, we don't use the land line 'cause we are dropping it and my cell, which is the other number they have, goes to voicemail immediately. I got no messages and they had the right numbers.
I think the next time they call for the appointment I am going to fax them a contract at my normal billing rate. If they don't show, they can pay my rate for the 4 hours I sit and wait. enough is enough.
I did love Monsters though!
