[VOOM] Re: Caller ID with new updated software! Wilt can you help

For those of us who do not know how to turn it on please explain.

I have looked at every menu and can not find out how to turn it on.
I have called and pressed the * button, Nothing, I am eager to have
this option.

Early Voom user, Love it, Sorry to hear all the install problems but
mine was great.

I think you'll need the new software package. My box shows the
target software version of 230. Should take the download tonight.

Gordy--

If you've pushed the "*" button and do not see the screen to enable CallerID, you must not have v7.26 software on your reciever yet.

To see if your targeted to get the software, go to the "system status" menu and arrow down to the second screen. If it says "v2.30" in the "Targeted Software Version" field, your scheduled for the update. Turn off the receiver via the power button when you go to bed and the software will be loaded by morning.

Getting to the "Targeted Software Version" Screen:
Voom Button
Green Button (Options & Settings)
Green Button (System Settings)
6 Button (System Status)
Down Arrow Button

Thanks, works like a champ!!

I notice the software version is now 2.3. This is new. The operating system works a litle differently now but everything seems good. HGTV is on too. Not in PG yet.

[VOOM] Re: Caller ID with new updated software! Wilt can you help

I tried it both ways, I turned the power off with the front panel
button one night and with the remote button the next. I have still
not recieved the update. I do show v2.30 in the target software
version. I called voom and they said to turn off the power via the
remote to get the download. Is this correct?

Thank You

RE: [VOOM] Re: Caller ID with new updated software! Wilt can you help

I'm not totally sure as to how they have the download setup at this point,
but the idea of shutting the power on the box-either remote or front panel,
doesn't matter-implies that the download should take-if the box is
targeted-when it's in standby, that is when it's been powered off in either
method and overnight.

Re: [VOOM] Re: Caller ID with new updated software! Wilt can you help

You have the ability to "force" the update immediately.

Follow this:

on the remote press:
Voom-see options and settings bottom right-press green button-see=20
system settings bottom right-press green button again-see system=20
settings-press #7 installer menu-see installer menu-press #1=20
installation wizard-see installation steps press #7 verify Voom-see=20
Installation Step 7-Verify Voom-see bottom right continue-press green=20
button-small window will pop up -select update now

I did this the other day when I realized the update was coming and I=20
wanted to monitor the whole process. The total time for the download=20
was 19 minutes 59 seconds.

[VOOM] On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

The first night I received the firmware upgrade the caller ID
function worked great, but that was the only time. I cannot get it
to work anymore. I've tried soft reboot and power reboot to no
avail. After two frustrating calls to Voom and staying on hold for
30 minutes and then becoming patched through to installs, Inc. I'm
beginning to lose patience with Voom CSR's altogether. They act as
if they're clueless about this firmware upgrade and its functions.
Any suggestions??????

Thanks,
Fireman1000

[VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

I must admit I am quite frustrated with VOOM over this as well.
Mine seems to work for a day or so, and then it stops working. The
only way to get Caller ID to work is to reset the box virtually
everyday. This is a total tease. It is a nice feature and I like
it very much, but it does not work properly.

Note to VOOM : Stop sending out buggy software ! This is the second
time I have received software that is buggy and not working. If you
keep doing this you will lose more customers than you gain. It is
very frustrating to have software that does not work. I certainly
hope a fix for the caller ID problems is coming and soon.

[VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

No, I have Verizon. It seems to work fine and then the it just
stops showing up. You have to reset the box and reset the caller ID
and then it works again. This seems to happen every day or two on
two boxes.

Hi:
maybe VOOM didn't test it with more than one phone call before they released the firmware?
