Did Voom show the Nascar race in HD,What about any Major league Baseball/ Football. How about new premier movies in HD? How about new CSI,or Law in Order, Live Boxing, All Voom ever played was old movies and TV shows ,cartoons OVER AND OVER. I would rather watch Deadliest catch in HD for 1 hour then the entire Voom line up. There was Never anything on Voom! Just because its HD all the time doesn't make the same old boring movies and Shows any better. Whats on Voom that is exclusive? Repeated Old content. If you were lucky maybe 1 or 2 new CFL football games.

It's all about your personal tastes Hemi. Nascar, CSI, Law & Order & Live Boxing are all crap to me. Garbage TV. Nascar??? I'd rather watch the WFN for christ sakes. CSI? Those dumb ass crime drama's are boring and a dime a dozen. Football I can watch in high def on my local channels and baseball I have SNY HD to enjoy the Mets.

I won't bother to list all the great films that I watched on Monsters HD because you will just trash them anyway. It's those "old films" I enjoy.

Nascar??? Well, if watching cars going around in circles "over and over" again is your thing more power to you. Sorry, I'm not a gear head.

Nascar? ROFLOL!!!

There must be a reason they have the bad rap though....

I can't tell you how many times I have viewed the Guide and it always showed the same episodes. Maybe we weren't watching the same VOOM channel.

When was VOOM on DISH when they didn't offer DVR's?

Voom was Voom DBS without a DVR. Again you must not have really watched Vooms. Shows repeated but different episodes. Movies took no longer to recycle than the majority of the other premium channels but for the fact the Voom movies channels rarely showed content found on other providers. Miss the days of 007 (untouched) Month.

He's also forgetting to subtract the commercial time on the added channels, which is 4.8 hours per day per channel. I'm not saying the VOOM channels had no commercials, but they certainly had nowhere near 4.8 hours per day per channel. Edit: And the commercials that did appear on VOOM channels were related to VOOM or VOOM programming, not mighty putty, penis enlargement, weight loss, feminine products, etc...

I doubt DISH was going to base this criteria in their decision. DISH wants to increase their subs. Most of the potential new subs are not going to know what the VOOM channels were, much less if they carried commercials or not.

DISH lost to DirecTV in new Subs and did it while they had VOOM. Now they are trying it without, the same as DirecTV has been doing it.

Dish lost to DirecTv while they had SciFiHD and USAHD uplinked but refused to turn them on. They also lost in the ad department and in the sports dept.

If nobody knew about Voom, how could Voom have been Dishes demise?

Jeff, I know the new stuff is NOT a replacement for Voom even though the CSRs have been told to say that and the form letter email that is sent out says that.

I'm not even taking the Voom take down personally. I AM taking to task some of the misinformation and "too bad for you" attitude, although that kind of behavior will never be corrected on a public forum. Probably just had too much coffee today!

You won't list them because there was only 8 for the last 2 years. Planet of the Apes was what you Voom guys were getting excited about. WOW! If we all haven't seen that on National TV about 1 million times already. HD doesn't make it anymore interesting. Brain Eaters in Black and white . Another HD WOW.

lol - Got a feeling you didn't watch much VOOM in the last few months. You might have a different take on repeats there. VOOM gets a bad rap for repeating a show several times a day, then going on to different shows the next day. Probably a habit they developed in their pre-DVR days. Discovery repeats a show several times a week. It's hard to find a day that doesn't have "Dirty Jobs" in it somewhere.

funny I was going to say the same thing to you.. When they changed one of the channels to Voom Movies I was like "oow Voom Movies let see what on" .. Day 1 .. movie a, b, c.. a, b, c.. a, b,c .. Day 2.. movie d,e,f... d,e,f.. d,e,f.. Day 3 movie g, h, i.. g, h, i.. Day 4.. Movie a, b, c..

I rolled my eyes and at that point offically removed the voom channels from my favorite list..

Really? HD-DVD is dead? So, like, they're not releasing anything new on it, at all? But yet... you'd still find more new releases than on Voom...

That's saying something.

Yes, it does say something. It says that while there are still people in existence who are stupid enough to continue to invest in dead technology, corporate America will continue to take advantage of them.

The only 2 studios left releasing on HD-DVD are Paramount and Universal. Toshiba discontinued manufacture of HD-DVD Drives and media in March. Even Microsoft has discontinued sales of HD-DVD drives for the Xbox360 and announced Blue-Ray drives coming later.

Next time, you should do a little research before attempting to sound like you have a clue.

Edit: Also keep in mind that Betamax took a full 2 years before finally going away after Sony lost its format war way back when...

Actually, it seems to me that all the movie channels are like that. I dropped HBO because it seems like they only had 3 new movies a month and then repeated them repeatedly. I will say that HBO's originally programming was exceptional, but not $15/month worth.

Hey, that's exactly why I don't pay for any movie channels.

Well, except for the one penny deal...

Yes!! Planet of the apes!! I went nuts over seeing it in glorious HD! How about
The day the earth stood still!! One of my all time favorites.
nOT TO MENTION HELLRAISER! JUST AWESOME.

Im not sure why people on this site are trashing voom channels. They were extremely valuable to me as well as to others.

I personaly would not jump up and down if other stations were chopped off.

Damn I even watched tennis on world sport. It was great seeing old time players.

Nothing looked better than equator..

Filmfest had some real hard to find movies. Not run of the mill stuff.

Again, dish in its current state is just like direc. I should know I have direc for my sports packages.

Voom was the only reason I came to dish years ago.

Not to tick anyone off but why are we still talking about VOOM? I loved MonstersHD but it's gone. They're going to continue to add the simulcast HD stations regardless of actual HD content. Just move on to what could be coming in the future.

I see what you are saying but to me there is no channel that I would rather have then MonstersHD.

Then unfortunately you'll have to move to NY for Cablevision. Again, not to tick anyone off, but the reality is, VOOM most likely gone forever.

I'm taking a wild guess here but there are some people I know that moved from Directv/cable and invested money/time into E* for a few of the Voom channels. Having lost Monsters I can tell you I'm not all that interested in even flipping through these new additions. I do like Max/MGM though.

We are shooting for 1,000 posts on this thread. What did you think?

And Who doesn't have Hellraiser on DVD. I do! Once movies get to be 10-20 years old I can finally afford to buy them in DVD form.:)

I think closure for me will be when V* is no longer uplinked. That already might be the case. At that time reality will set in and I'll deal with it.

Understandable but please........this is ridiculous. I guess that's why we have these forums. People can come complain rather than suck it up and deal with it.

Again, I thoroughly enjoyed MonstersHD and it sucks that it's gone but that's where we're at.
