Wilt,

I have the same problem with 17-3 in Albany, NY. Ever since the new
software download I can't receive 17-3 which is the HDTV PBS
channel. Called CSR in late August and had a service call soon
after. The installer came out and said I wasn't the only one in the
Albany area to have the problem. The installer said he would forward
the problem to VOOM. It's been over a month and nothing has been
done. Can you look into this?

Thanks,

[VOOM] Update: Re: Wilt or others--need advice on receiving 1 out of 17 OTA channels.

Just wanted to let the readers of this thread know that VOOM does take
reception problems seriously and wants us to be satisfied customers!
Although working with the CSRs has been less than fruitfull, Wilt put
us in contact with Peter who is trying to resolve the problem
receiving HDTV PBS ch. 9-5 here in Seattle. They are working with OTA
Motorola engineers to unravel the mystery. I'll keep you posted as
this problem gets resolved.

By the way, if any others in the ch. 9 reception area are having
problems receiving ch. 9-5 a post on here might help VOOM figure it out.

About to watch HDTV under mostly cloudy Seattle skies, Gill

Hi all,
I also was having problems here in Klamath Falls, Or. in getting PBS-HD
to tune in. Scanned just fine and was put into the PG as 8-1 (SD) and
8-7 (HD). Got a good pic on 8-1 and black screen on 8-7. Voom also
remapped the channels and got the same results. Have asked many, many
times for Voom to contact the engineer at PBS. He was never contacted!
However, he was also trying to help me so he ran many tests with me.
He knew that the problem was at his end as I was receiving CBS via OTA
in both SD and HD. He also says that his PSIP is correct.
Okay, to make a long story short, I now have PBS-HD.!! What he did was to
switch his broadcast from channel 8-7 to 8-1. I now receive HD on
channel 8-1 and am happy as all get out. Only problem now is that
I get a black screen on 8-7 (Just like before) but I don't need the SD
channel... He is closing in on why his HD is working on 8-1 but not on 8-7.
Moral of the story, work with the OTA engineers and not Voom and You'll
get more accomplished. Of course I live in a small town and from what I
can tell, am about the only person here that is getting PBS-HD via OTA.
