[VOOM] Wilt- Regarding the 24" dish

I just wanted drop you a note about how well the 24" dish performed
during Hurricane Ivan. What rain fade may have occurred, happened
well into the storm, although its kind of hard to tell what can be
attributed to rain fade and what to the winds. I also have cable
service that went out several hours before I lost Voom. So much for
cable being more reliable than satellite.

I originally had the 18" dish which worked fine in clear weather, but
would go completely out 30 minutes before a light shower. I don't
know if Voom is still using the 18" dishing in original
installations, but you might want to consider using the 24" as a
minimum to avoid return trips and lost cost of the original 18" dish.

The winds did eventually move the dish off of the satellite. Re-
aiming the dish was fairly easy and only took a few minutes. Of
course watching a couple of OTA standard def analog shows was enough
to motivate me drag the ladder out. lol

It poured here last night in upstate NY and I had virtually no rain fade with the replacement 24" dish which I had installed the day before. I definitely recommend the switch to the 24" from the 18" as a standard for greater reliability and stronger signal with quicker lock in of a channel.

[VOOM] Re: Wilt- Regarding the 24" dish

I just got Voom installed and they used an 18" dish I have 97 ot 98 %
signal and the picture looks fantastic, I am in the Chicago land area
and I am not sure if I should upgrade to the 24" Thanks.
