Hey guys...

I am excited that we can bring you Map Master support to SatelliteGuys! Please use this forum to share your custom Map Master Maps!

This forum is a special hidden forum meaning you can only see it and download (and upload) from it when you are logged into your SatelliteGuys account. This will protect the maps from the search bots and spiders thus prolonging the enjoyment of this hobby for all of us! :)

If someone can let me know the extension of the Map Master Map files please let me know so I can add it as a default file type so that you can upload your maps without needing to zip them up.

Now I just need to find myself a 4DTV and whatever is necessary to load Map Master so I can join you guys with the fun. :D

Have fun and welcome home to SatelliteGuys! :D

Here is one that I made a couple changes to. I added SWRV music channel on 125W (851). I also modified the HBO HD trans on 127w which is not open right now but the 4 SID's are in it. I removed the 4060V channels on 103w.

I removed the 4060V channels on 103w. I added the 4880SR transponder(may work with 922 or 905) on 121w which had a couple channels on it last I checked but my signal is not good enough to verify that it works.

Rob,
before you post the entire file how bout you start out with just the text you modified.
Reason: 1: the file you posted is not correct.
nice try but just not there.
if you just post the section you wanted it would be better for right now.
Later on when you get the hang of it then it will be ok for the entire file.
If someone downloaded and used your file they could be in for a tough ride of things.

Also There are some signals intentionally left off of the maps.
Reason: they overwrite your maps and make a mess of things for you.
Some uplinkers will overwrite your maps. Those that had been identified by close to a year of tests were intentionally left off maps so no one would have problems.
Also low SR channels do not always work on a 920 receiver so one has to be careful if they have a 920 receiver not to load in maps intended for a 922.
The maps sent to the web site were checked out to make sure they were ok in both receivers.

try this for your G9 sat tile in place of G9-123-131 overwrite those channels with only these 4

059-G9,00108,0,1,0,0,00000,010,00008,0,80,H,1250000,1,1,0,29.27,7/8,10,059,10,059
059-G9,00118,0,0,0,0,00000,010,00018,0,80,H,1250000,1,1,0,29.27,7/8,10,059,10,059
059-G9,00151,0,1,0,0,00000,010,00051,0,80,H,1250000,1,1,0,29.27,7/8,10,059,10,059
059-G9,00162,0,0,0,0,00000,010,00062,0,80,H,1250000,1,1,0,29.27,7/8,10,059,10,059

then give it a go and you will be fine.
you did fine on 125
your 127 is all wrong. < fixed if you copy these 4 above to it and delete 123-131
in fact after looking at it more I believe you can delete all the channels from 123-138
I do not believe there is a DC2 signal on 132-138 those are now megapipe channels
3920 is now megapipe so you had a old copy of G9 there.
4140 is also megapipe so no go on the 4d receiver.

delete the T7 channel you put in there also:
090-T7,00125,0,1,0,0,00000,006,00012,0,88,V,1318000,1,0,1,04.88,3/4,10,090,10,090
090-T7,00126,0,1,0,0,00000,006,00013,0,88,V,1318000,1,0,1,04.88,3/4,10,090,10,090
090-T7,00127,0,1,0,0,00000,006,00014,0,88,V,1318000,1,0,1,04.88,3/4,10,090,10,090
090-T7,00128,0,1,0,0,00000,006,00015,0,88,V,1318000,1,0,1,04.88,3/4,10,090,10,090
090-T7,00129,0,1,0,0,00000,006,00016,0,88,V,1318000,1,0,1,04.88,3/4,10,090,10,090

these are incorrect and not mapped properly and....
There is a reason those channels were not put in the receiver.
there is nothing in the tables for that particular mux as it was tried many times with no success but only hassles.

Thanks for the input it was helpful in realizing there was a change on 127 & 125.

Ya I figured the ones that didn't lock were an unsupported mode. I spent a few hours on that and 80% of it didn't work so I can only imagine the time and effort put into the entire file. How would I send in changes for maps? Can you give me an idea how to submit a change? That file is from the original new map file from the google site that I modified. I don't have my dish setup on a positioner at this time so I haven't gotten to the point of setting the limits and whatnot.

Another error I made when writing my maps was I must have done a double dump of the nvram map file and when I turned on my receiver I had over 4800 channels! But then I just did it over again and all was well.

There is really no need to have the pre shutdown maps any longer.
the generics eat up too much TDT space in the maps and really most are just empty anyway.
Placing the signals back where they belong was the key.

Unless you want to lose all map tiles and ability to change sat tiles never attempt to load in any DC2 on any Anik satellite.
The way it is set up on the new maps the Anik DC2 was removed and those satellites restored to NTSC format.
This gives the user the ability to program in those satellites and if your 4d is moving the dish you can slave a DVB FTA receiver off the 4D and see some DVB signals from the Anik sats without destroying the maps in the 4d receiver.

There was give and take in all this, so this is the best we have been able to come up with to help out everyone.

The last time I tested out the Anik DC2 channels with a 4D receiver , the channel count went over 10,000 channels
and the sat tiles that appeared on my screen looked nothing like what was in the receiver moments before it changed and there was no ability to even select any other sat tile then what the receiver showed on the screen.
The overwriting of the maps from Anik had gotten much worse then it used to be before.

So if you have a subscription and order the guide info which satellite do you have to be pointed at in order to retrieve it? Is there just one satellite that has all of the info or does each respective satellite contain this information?

I'm guessing X4. Whenever I'm on another satellite for a day, I loose everything in the guide and the only way to get it back is to sit on X4 for a few hours. But that's just a guess.

Yes on X4 is where the guide data comes from.

NotTy, do you have the new maps yet?
I have guide info for longer then a day now with the TDT count much lower.

Also for anyone who wants to experiment, if you take the ku info down to just transponder 1 & 2 only you end up with a TDT count lower then a 1000.
I had it (TDT count) all the way to 630 with all the sat tiles (no generics) and all the DC2 signals mapped in.

Nope, but definitely have a renewed interest in mapmaster though.
I've also recently picked up a KU LNB for free but not too sure if I want to mess with that portion of it right now. One sight claims a certain satellite will wipe out your maps if you have KU. It doesn't look like the free version of mapmaster will prevent this issue unless you really tear into the editing portion of it which I don't think I have the technical ability to do.

use # 9 at the site for a set of maps without the anik dc2 so that you can safely go anywhere with the dish/receiver and not be afraid.

What is #9? What do you mean by the Ku transponder? Delete all of the Ku tranponders to lower the TDT count? I am lost.

Can the satellite names be changed as long as the name stays within two alphanumeric characters. I have not received the USBBDM NT nor the battery yet. Due here any day. Also, changing the map files is something I may never try but inquiring minds you know.

Thanks

Can the satellite names be changed as long as the name stays within two alphanumeric characters.

Thanks

Many satellite names have already been changed in the maps we have.
They are limited to 2 digits and this is hardware related and that has never changed.
for instance some of the names in the current file we have show:
GB was changed back to G7 and X7 for ku
S2 for SES-2
S1 for SES-1
S3 for SES-3 which is going to replace AMC-1
Their ku counterparts are R1 to R3
The Anik sats were changed to F1, F2 & F3 and their ku counterparts are listed as A1-A3 and follow the sat designators more closely then what was in there before by Motorola.

The trick to all this is that certain satellites are putting out certain info which the 4DTV receivers will pick up from the satellites and this can overwrite certain satellite designators if you go there, so certain satellites had to remain the same name or it would just be overwritten.

On the website there is a satellite chart there that lists the names we have in the mappings.

Lonewolf was one of the first to come out with some new sat ids for the receiver and it was expanded on.

If there is something particular you are interested in trying, put it out here, and lets see if it will go alright.

One reason it took so long to get this far in the Map Restoration process was that certain things would not work right and without giving up hope there also needs to be a way to see if a workaround would be needed to make sure it would not cause something else to go wrong.

Thanks Stargaze.

I do not use ku with my 922 nor the dish controlled by the 922. I have another setup for ku. It's not DCII capable though. But I'm not concerned about that.

This will be confusing to some but not to me and it's for my use only.

My satellite arc covers 53.0°W to 139.0°W.

It's easier for me to remember which satellite is which by using location of the satellite. My thoughts on renaming the satellites (for my use) are to use the location. Example: 89.0°W Galaxy 28 T4 would be 89. Anything over 100.0°W would drop the 1. Example :133.0°W Galaxy 12 G1would be 33. Anything which has tenths of a degree would be rounded off to the nearest degree Example: 118.7°W Anik F3 F3 would be 19.

So if I wanted to move the dish to 93.1°W Galaxy 25 T6 I would select 93 or it I wanted to move to 116.8°W Satmex 5 M5 I would select 17.

Those are my thought for my setup.

Thanks

Jas,

Technically it is possible.
I took G4 in the maps and each place it said "G4" I put in 99
take a look:

I ran it through the map restoration program and it came up as 99
I did not put it in my receiver to see how I would go about just pressing 99 on my remote as I "think" the remote is programmed to see a letter first. Not 100% sure on this but in theory your suggestion may work.
However;
while it may work you could go to 1 Dc2 channel and your maps may change on you and you lose your number on the sat you are on at that time.
Say you had 05 for 105 I believe it would be overwritten on you as would M5 and several other satellites that are transmitting data on them if you go to certain Dc2 channels.

Now, with that said, if you want to go through all the energy to attempt this please try it out and report back your progress.
It is possible it could work.

To remember things though I strongly suggest you download the satellite icon guide posted on the web page as this makes things much easier to remember.

I can see using this type of system on a receiver with a bad unit id number where someone wants a dish mover again.
Then I would say to replace the battery, throw in a set of total analog mappings (no DC2) and use the dish as dish mover only and this would work 100% by using the sat position numbers as long as you got used to the remote part of things!

Now if you want to then do this and I will test it out.
Download the #9 maps on the webpage.
Carefully go through and replace the letters on all satellites to the numbers you want and save it.
Then pm me and I'll give you an email address to send it to and I will put it into one of my bench receivers here to see if it will work.
However you will have to make those changes first.
And I will reply back with all the particulars.

Stargaze,

I have changed most of the C band satellites. I did not change W5, M8, Generic for C4 or any satellite below 53.0°W. Nor have I deleted any of them or the KU satellites. If I delete them do I need to renumber anything or just delete the satellites and all the maps for them.

Thanks

jas

Jas,

no do not delete anything.
They can be left in as un-programmed satellites and will not hurt anything.
Only those you program in will show up.
take your time so that all the changes are made to the way you like.
I can then take a look at it for you to make sure it is going to work.
