Why do people call Dish?

I can believe there may be one in Mexico but there are not suppose to be any overseas any more.

If that's what they're saying, they lied. At least one, pretty sure two or more, in the Philippines. And they are actually ADDING positions to those centers, not just frontline CSR any more. That center/centers now even have some account specialists and advanced tech support agents. Not speculation on this, I have talked to these agents.

Sales is almost 100% Philippines. Broadband sales is headed that way.

Do you suppose that means they will layoff people at the American call centers after they add these positions overseas?

I'd bet on it! Some years ago I work at a call center in my hometown that provided service for the "other guys" as well as several other companies. I was a trainer. About 3 years after I started I was asked if I would go to the philippines and train the new hires at the call center under construction that would replace the one in my hometown. I declined, but 3 of the other trainers did go - and were there for some time. It took two "retraining" sessions (each about 6 weeks) before the company felt like they were ready. When the call center here shut down, they simply walked away from it. All hardware, all cubicles were left in place. Not what I'd call a good way to run a business...
