Got another DIU 622 in less than 1 yr.

Called the general number/tech support...talked to a great American gal who tried for at least 10 min to make the computer let me do it since last March. No Go. She then directed me to another "department" who immediately processed it. Just FYI. And if any of you are looking for a great deal on a 42" plasma, here it is at Fry's AND was at their store here in Indy:

I have a Plasma and it doesn't suck donkey balls! I actually love it and haven't had any problems. I also have a LCD that works very well. You are just one of those typical narrow minded individuals who think they know it all and in fact know very little. It's one thing to criticize something constructively but to blantantly put something down like that is pretty lame.

Two undeniable facts; plasmas generally have better contrast ratio and less motion blur. LCD has made strides to improve performance in these two areas, but it's not quite there, yet. And please don't start talking about burn-in as I personally know gamers with 1st and 2nd gen plasmas with not even the slightest burnt phosphor.

I still have a 508 PVR up in the bedroom. There's an HD LCD up there, but it's just a bedroom TV so I never thought to upgrade the receiver. The 508PVR has no DVR fee, but I noticed that as soon as I got the 622 and DVR Advantage, Dish started charging me an access fee on the 508. They'll get ya one way or another

I might try another DIU in the spring, but if it's not available then, it's really no big deal for that TV.

I'm kind of just being an a$$hole , but I actually do have a dislike of plasmas. Yes, burn in IS real, I see it frequently on Plasmas I come across at customer's houses. I've only seen a couple of instances where the picture was as good as a DLP or LCD. There seems to be a lot of screen door effect, aliasing, and improper color transitions. You see a lot of compression artifacts more readily than in other technologies. The photorealism just isn't there, compared with a good LCD or DLP. But, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

No no no... not a DVR fee... an "access fee". Before I upgraded to HD I had the 508 and a 625. I didn't have the second receiver access fee. And the 508 is grandfathered out of DVR fees. So they just whacked me with something else instead.

Do you have a phone line attached to the 622? If not, that may be the reason for the additional receiver access fee.

Phone is attached to both receivers and the dial out test confirms they are working. The "Additional Receiver Access Fee" never showed up until after I upgraded the 625 to a 622. I know the 508PVR doesn't have the DVR fee... never did.... but I'd love to see that additional receiver access fee go away.

Did they just "forget" to put it on my bill the last couple of years? It was always there. I don't understand why it's just showing up since the upgrade.
