My Dish service was reinstalled yesterday but the tech didn't have replacement LNBFs for my existing Dish 500/300 setup so he replaced it with a Dish 1000. He did a good, clean install, but I have some questions about the way it is wired. I suspect the wiring arrangement was selected to minimize the number of cables that needed to be pulled but I think it will unnecessarily reduce the signal strength to my receiver.

Diagram01 shows the installation the way it was done using 3 diplexers. It seems to me that there has to be a significant loss after going through all the diplexers.

Diagram02 shows what I think may be a better solution that could be implemented without much trouble.

What do you guys think?

Mario

When I put diplexers on my antenna lead as your installer did, I noticed no degradation in performance. So if all you are concerned about is a negligible drop in signal strength, I wouldn't bother.

You can certainly simplify your installation by cabling up your TV2 with another coax. I would not bother removing the DPP separator on your 722, though. Separators save on cable runs and require no more bandwidth nor a better cable than two separate cable runs. In both cases, the antenna signal is bandstacked. But in your figure 2, that second cable run from attic to 722 is being wasted. You could use it in the future for another dual tuner receiver, if you so desire.

Thanks for the input - my system is now wired as you suggested. You were correct about the difference being negligible so I ended up on the roof tweaking the dish. I've got 129 up from 21 - 28 to 30 - 48 depending on the TP selected. Are these values reasonable? I'm not used to the new scale so I don't know how that compares to the reading I got about a year ago when I was last a Dish customer.
