Do any of you know if D* will be previewing their entire MLB package (game mix, HD games, Strikezone)? I'd like to get a feel of how much HD content they will be offering each night before I sign up again.

Yes, the entire first week (Mon-Sun) is free preivew. Early bird price also ends at the conclusion of the first week, IIRC.
I have heard nothing about the EI. package this year ( I did get my email about the Free Preview)
What are the current prices for the EI. with and with out the HD.
Are they doing any reasonable price breaks ?

Before April 6 the MLB EI early offer price is $179 (4 payments of $44.75), and to add SuperFan it's another $50 (4 payments of $12.50). Not sure what it is after April 6. I'm getting spoiled watching sports in HD, so I'd like to see how many games will actually be shown in HD each night before I renew this year.
With most teams doing everygame in HD this year, I would say that there is going to be alot of games in HD.

I think the Tigers are doing about half of thier games in HD .
I wonder if we'll be getting blacked out this year when ESPN decides to pick them up like previous years.
Previously, they would be blacked out even if they were not available on another channel.

From all I have seen and read...I speculate that there will be probably 6 to 8, maybe even more games each day in HD. The ESPN, I believe Sunday Night game would probably block out any others but there is usually only 1 other scheduled in the evening on Sunday night. The Fox game on Saturday is where most of the Balck outs would probably occurr. They have 3 usually, regional and it ties up Saturday Afternoon baseball.
Will any of the other basic MLBEI channels be in HD, or only my local one? And will they do like last year and have additional HD channels for HD content?
The ESPN Sunday night game should NEVER be blacked out as it is a National game.
That said, I know it does happen for some unknown reason.

Expect 50 games a week in HD. They will use any HD feed they have available on the satellite (in general). Most teams are doing home games in HD. Some teams are doing all games in HD. So, in general, DirecTV should have MOST games in HD (using the home feed, or occasionally the away feed if needed).
The HD games will be on a -1 channel, like it has been for NBA & NHL this season.
Blackouts will be the same as last year.
FOX Saturday afternoon will have one game on locally, but televises 3 games nationally. You'll only be able to see the one on you local station. No Extra Innings games can be shown until 7pm Saturday. So when a team scheduels a 1pm game, it can only be seen the the home area. (Eastern Times)
ESPN sunday night blackout is just for the one ESPN sunday night game. No other games are generally scheduled during this time (start after 7pm Sunday nights)
Also, you will be blacked out of any teams that are considered your home area. For some people that is one team, for some it is up to 5.

All teams listed on that screen will be blacked out. You must watch the home broadcast using the OTA/RSN in your area. If it is on a local network you don't get, you are out of luck for that game.
Lastly, they are aggressively working to provide dual feeds (home & away) for this year. I've asked the powers-to-be about it, and they wouldn't confirm it, but said they are close.
They did it very successfully with the NHL this year, which has far less HD feeds, so this could be a very good year for the MLB package.

The ESPN game is blackout time so you must watch on ESPN. What it does black out is any games that are scheduled after a ceratin time on Sunday night. It is rare that any games are, but sometimes make up games fall in there.

So now, IF the Tigers are scheduled to play on ESPN Sunday night (or wens. were blkd out last year too, I think) and it is also available on the local FSN, instead of being able to hear the National perspective, I like Joe Morgan and his cohort that escapes me at the moment) I have no choice but to watch the Tigers broadcast, is this correct ?
The home and away feed would be really nice .... for the EI package that is.

That wouldn't happen, the ESPN games are exclusive, so not on ESPN. Same as the FOX Saturday afternoon games.
All other games, not FOX/ESPN, will be on FSN Detroit.

The Tigers play the White Sox the first Sunday of the year. (once the season is started for all )
edit: Actually,it's slated as being on ESPN2 on the first full Sunday night (according to the Tigers listing) and is NOT listed to be on FSN Detroit so it should be available to all. Don't know whats on ESPN at that time.

This would be great. I feel sorry for some teams' fans. I think Pittsburgh has it pretty bad. I'd really like to see Darrin Sutton take the next train back to Wisconsin, but we're stuck with him for another 9 years. Thom Brennamen was a far superior announcer than Sutton will ever be.
Thank God im getting MLB through ExpressVu this year and don't have to subscribe to Directv's crap service!
