Cleveland HD Locals Problem

Good for you! I will try that. According to the website:
You may need a second satellite dish to receive all local channels in this package.
This second dish will be provided and installed free of any charge.
If you do not already have a second satellite dish, please call DISH Network at 800-333-DISH (3474) to schedule an installation.

This text is found if you log into your account on DishNetwork's site, go to My Programming --> Change Programming --> Local Channels. It does say exactly what's posted above. That should help a lot when I call them to order my second dish!! Thanks, Smitty!

Man, oh man. I scheduled to have a dish installed tommorow so i can get my HD locals....I turn on the TV right now and my SD locals are gone...what are these CSRs doing?!?!?!

Mine is getting installed tomorrow. I tried to play hardball about the fee/extension, but I cracked. I have to admit that I really don't plan on leaving Dish. They have always treated me well. Between my father and myself we have been with them for over 10 years. I can do without some HD here and there and have some "Brand Loyalty."

When I talked to the CSR, I was told that the "free of charge" was the 24 month commitment.

Like I said in my previous post, I am not going anywhere. You gotta make your decision.

Just got done chatting with a CSR.....for some reason they turned off my SD locals when i scheduled the install for the wing dish and they absolutely will not turn them back on until the wing dish is installed......I just cant believe the things they do sometimes.

Wow. So I called this morning to get set up. After a lengthy conversation explaining what I wanted with the CSR, they transferred me to the Tech department to get set install for the 61.5 dish. The Tech CSR that I got was extremely rude and said that she would have to charge me $60 and extend my commitment 2 years. We went back and forth and I finally said fine and made the payment so I could reserve the next day install.

I called back again to question the charge and the new CSR was telling me that Cleveland locals were on 61.5 and 129. I finally directed him the Dishnetwork website and showed him that he was incorrect. He checked my work order and told me that they set me up for the wrong equipment this morning. They put me down to remove my 129 and then reinstall tomorrow. I'm on hold now why they figure out if they can still come out tomorrow.

This is crazy. I've never seen such inept customer service. I wonder to cancel everything after my CSR beliggerently refused to turn my locals back on.

Ugh!!

Not just for myself...but speaking for any installer: please, PLEASE! don't take this out on your installer.:(

If the workorder is botched, he'll be able to work things out. But DO try to explain that you wish to keep the 129 and only want to add the 61.5 orbital to your overall set-up.

Can I just tell the installer that the CSR people are whacked out and I'd just like him to install a dish for 61.5 irregardless of what his work order syas?

Would never do that. I have all the respect in the world for front-line, working folks. It's the idiots that run the phones that are crippling this company.

My main concern is that the installer would show up without the right equipment because he got the wrong work order. I want to clear that up now. Also, I want my $60 back. I'm still on hold....

The csr I chatted with a few minutes ago told me the charge was $99 for a second dish and even though I just upgraded to HD in December of 2007, I would still have to pay. However he would not go any further as I am not home and he wanted me to check to see if they are coming through. My wife is going to be *issed off if they turn off SD and she misses Survivor>> But at least it is finally here, well almost here.:)

Just got the call from the wife......SD is gone.

Finally off of the phone. I lost my Friday appointment, but got rescheduled for Saturday morning. The $60 is being credited to my next bill. I can't wait to go home and find out that my 129 has been turned off. I know it's coming.

wow. its shocking to see how customers are being treated. and i dont understand the wide variety of prices people are paying and not paying to get a 2nd dish.

Yes, it is unbelievable.

It's also unbelievable that the tens of thousands (or more) will have to pay to get another dish to see what they were already subscribing to, once they move everything off 129.

But people will continue to give in. Charlie's counting on it.

Trying to get that "free" wing dish

Just got off the phone with my third CSR/tech trying to get that pesky wing dish for free. As with the second call, got transferred to tech support. She didn't know what I was talking about, but explained in detail and made sure she understood the web site said "free". She follows some training script for add Local HD DMA. "OK, I'm going to have to remove your locals, they should only be gone for a day or two at most". I'm saying whoa... No Survivor or American Idol and I'll be a dead or divorced man. She tries it and it doesn't work. She's expecting it to offer a second dish install when she re-adds it. On Hold 10 minutes, she comes back with all I have to do is add a Dish 500 upgrade. OK. That will be $59.99 or 24 month comittment. Once again, whoa.... Site says free. She says it is with the 24 month comittment. I say that's not free, what else can I do, nothing! Standoff. So I say forget it, I'll find another way. In passing on hanging up I mention that on the forums, people are getting the dishes installed for free, actually free no 24 mos commit, although most are going through 2,3,4 CSR's before it happens. She say's "Oh, they're (the other CSRs) just being nice", so I say how about you be nice. Presto - Monday install for "free". Of course I fully expect to see locals not working when I get home and either a $59 charge on my next bill or a 24 month comittment I didn't agree to.

I probably should have just paid my installer $50 under the table and been done with it :)

so this begs the question -- are there installers in Cleveland who will install a 61.5 dish for less than the $60 that Dish wants? Or does Dish subsidize this install (so the installer gets more than $60 from Dish)?
