Will Dish get BBC America in HD? I've always wanted to check out Torchwood but never felt the Dish Everything Pak or Dish 200 was worth it.

Does Direct have BBC America HD?

Discovery Communications is planing to launch BBC America-HD this year. No offical time table has been set. They are working to finish launching Planet Green this June. It is possible at E* will pick up this channel.

HDNET carries Torchwood every Monday at 7PM? Replays on Sat. Matter of fact the 2nd season just ended and last night they started showing from the beginning again, the pilot was on last night.

The problem with BBC America HD is that the BBC-HD channel in the UK is very new and only has 9 hours of programming a day (and a lot of that is movies which BBC America won't have the rights to show, and movies is not their niche anyway).

Same is true for Channel 4 - their hit show "Shameless" (that was shown on BBC America) is still filmed in SD.

"Doctor Who" is still filmed in SD, and the producers refuse to shoot it in HD (do a web search if you care why).

UK is about 5 years behind the US in terms of HD - partially because their SD is higher resolution and already widescreen.

IMHO, Torchwood can be mediocre. The writing and plot don't seem to be well thought out. One show had a main character, a medical doctor who had come back from death somehow, was by the bed of a dying man and wanted to give him mouth-to-mouth to save his life and screams, "I can't! I don't breathe!!!". Needless to say, he can talk so his lungs still move air in and out of his body. The old man died. I'm just sayin...

I agree Johns, I thought this season wasn't good at all. Nothing that made the show so good in the first year.
