I presently have a Dish 500 with 625 & 4900 receivers. I want to upgrade to HD with the 722 & 222. I have been told that upon the upgrade to HD, I will have a DIsh 1000 installed. This is where I need some advice/info.

1. Should I do this now or wait until the Eastern Arc becomes available?
2. Will the Eastern Arc provide superior quality since it will be MPEG4 & supposedly higher signal strength?
3. The new units that were mentioned in the Team Summit notes, with Slingbox incorporated.......will this allow reception of the HD signal by several tv's - how does this function?
4. Finally, my dish is installed on my chimney. Looking at it from the rear of the house, it is mounted on the left side. In order to receive the Eastern Arc signals, will it have to be moved to the right side of the chimney?

If you can wait, do so but first go to Dishpointer.com and see where your dish will have to be mounted. If the LOS looks good, then wait on the Eastern Arc if you can.

Yes, and here's why:

The company is going to go to mpeg4 only.
Eastern Arc will start that process.
Eastern Arc is supposed to be rolled out in a month or so.

Changing to the Arc may offer equipment updates and installs you would otherwise have to pay for.

Sorry, the eastern arc is now been pushed back to September ,according to what Scott said from team summit.
