I think with Dish dropping 15 Hd channels that Dish can not wait to add 15 more HD networks or risk losing more subscribers.

Direct Tv has already announced the addition of 5 more Hd networks.

Dish within the next month has to add more HD channels or pay a high price of losing viewership.

Anyway thats my take on the gamble Dish took in dropping the Voom Channels.

I do not believe that is the dropping of Voom that will hurt Dish it is in not replacing the 15 channels. They added 22 then took 15 away while Direct Tv keeps adding channels without takeing anything away.

What do they call that thing buyer's remorse? Well since going to Dish HD ONLY last week there have been no regrets. A 35 dollar Dish bill will always be better than a 110 dollar Dish bill. In fact I don't even miss the other SD channels because I've seen everything on them a 100 times and I don't even watch that much TV.

I'm a football addict and MNF on ESPN will be sweet along with SEC Saturday night or any other college fb game. Yes, Dish does need to add more HD for the 10,000 time.

The HD only package is genius and will only get better as the year progresses. A very strong marketing plan.

I just dropped my SD 200 package and went from the HD Ultimate to the HD Only.

I'll save a few bucks and wait to see how the Dish/Direct thing shakes out. I really do miss
VOOM Rave and will switch to Direct if they pick it up.

One thing that showed Charlie the Tuna does not think--He should have kept VOOM and made it part of the Everything package. This would have gotten some of his Subs to go for the higher package thus earning Dish more income without the new bad ads that direct tv will run

We have the room to add more HD without dropping channels unlike that other sat provider------

Watch for these new ads to roll out from Direct TV

I also would like to know what 5 additional HD channels D* has agreed to carry. The only one that is listed on their web site is ABC Family.

From The DIRECTV Group, Inc. - DIRECTV to Offer 11 HBO/Cinemax Channels in HD

In addition to the HBO (East) HD channel it currently offers, DIRECTV will launch the following HBO/Cinemax channels in full-time HD: HBO West, HBO2 West, HBO2 East, HBO Family East, HBO Family West, HBO Latino, HBO Signature, Cinemax East, Cinemax West and MoreMax.

So they've added 3 on that list which means 7 more to go from HBO/Cinemax.

Yes but there is no confirmed Dates of their release. That could be 2009 for all that for all we know.

The MAX-HD stuff sounds interesting. But can you get them for 1 penny for a year? :D

DISH already pretty much has the same thing. They just have 5 Star Max HD instead of MoreMax HD. There isn't much difference between the two, though I would have preferred MoreMax. And DISH throws in 2 more SD Max channels. And yeah, some people get them for a penny.

DISH has always been the leader in premiums up until now- hope they get on the stick and catch up somewhat with HD stuff. They currently lead in Cinemax. The Showtime/TMC HD channels are already uplinked, so they could catch up with DirecTV tomorrow if they wanted to. DirecTV is stomping DISH with Starz.

That just leaves HBO. As far as I'm concerned, DISH still leads, even though DirecTV has the west coast feed in HD. But DISH has HBO Comedy, which is more important to me than time-shifted HD. If DirecTV can get these HBO-HD channels up soon, they'll move into the lead. But Scott G has suggested that DISH might be launching all the HBOs in HD in the next few weeks.

The only thing preventing it from being perfect is the exclusion of the RSN(s).

And you know what I begin to think it might happen, once the additional HDs are added, they may increase the HD-Only pack price say to $39.99, with a trade off, you can add RSNs for extra fee. Those already have the $29.99 will continue to pay $29.99 till 2009, unless they want to add RSNs.

It all depends on how their assessment will be I think.
