Dish 1000; How To Tell Which Version?

My Dish 500 was recently upgraded to a Dish 1000 (3 LNBs) for satellites 110, 119, and 129 as I upgraded my receivers from a Dish 811 to a ViP211 and a ViP222. I've noticed that some contributors to this forum make note of having a Dish 1000+ or a Dish 1000.2. What's the difference and how would I tell what version of the Dish 1000 antenna I got (the installer didn't leave any copies of the paperwork for my order)?

There currently are 2 "flavors" of the D1000. The D1000 and the D1000.2. The major differences being, (a) that the 1000.2 is slightly larger in diameter and (b) the LNB is an integrated LNB; essentially keeping everything as one unit versus two LNBs that the D1000 has.

D1000+ includes a 4th orbital, the 118.7

The 1000.2 allows you to hook a 4th satellite slot to the LNB assembly. The 1000 does not.

The dish 1000+ is a 4 orbital dish. The Dish 1000 and 1000.2 are just 3 orbitals on the dish.

Okay, so the dish part of the antenna simply says Dish Network with a 1000 imprinted in what looks like a TV box. The triple LNB has DP Plus printed on its backside. Guess I still don't know what that adds up to.

You don't need to look at the dish; select Switch Test and view; there is the dish name.

Ran Switch Test, but no dish name was given. There was a block for SuperDish and a block for other, but neither was checked.

The Switch Test provided a Satellite Input spreadsheet with 4 columns for Ports 1 through 4. On the Satellite line it listed 119 for Port 1, 110 for Port 2, and 129 for Port 3. Port 4 had an X. For Trans., it listed OK for Ports 1 through 3 and an X for Port 4. For Device it listed 1K.2 for Ports 1 through 3 and N.C. for Port 4. The Switch was listed as DPP1K.2.

Still don't know what that all means.

It means that you are viewing E* services on a 1000.2.

1000.2 Dish...the 1000 has a separate LNB for 129 whereas the 1000.2 its all integrated

Menu 6-1-1 and check switch does not display any information regarding my Dish satellite antenna model. I could take a picture, but that would involve digging out the camera, putting in fresh batteries, taking the screen shot, hooking up the camera or memory chip to the USB on one of my computers, downloading the pic file, then posting it in this thread. More work and it still doesn't list the antenna model number.

Yes the switch shows, but unless one is knowledgeable regarding the switch designation and its relationship to the antenna model number, that doesn't help much. That's why I posted the switch spreadsheet information. I figured one of you technical gurus could make some sense of it.

thats because the receiver has no idea what reflector the signals are bouncing off of. It can only test the switch configuration, which in your case is built into the lnb.
Besides, most customers could care less what dish is on the roof... they just want the tv to work.

That is true.......until someone asks for advice or help. Then they are asked to supply the information regarding their system. That's where the rub starts. To those that have learned how or where to find this information it is simple, but for those that are just starting, it can be burdensome. Forums are great places to learn and ask questions, but some times asking a simple question brings some harsh responses.
